Why are they sitting down

edited August 2010 in Poker Chat
Why is frankenstien and giddens sitting down, even Tikay can do a 4 hour show standing up!

This is ridculous, they work like 8 hours aweek and can't even stand up

    Hi Mr Mad.

I'll be replying to the comments & feedback on the "THAT Show" Thread shortly, & the "sitting down" thing is an interesting by-product of the studio changes we are currently experimenting with. In fact, I raised your very question in yesterday's Production Meeting, as I was equally curious.

It transpires that there are technical reasons for this, which are too long & boring to explain.

However, I conveyed to the Meeting the view of many, which is that it seems our viewers & Players seem to prefer, judging by the feedback, to see the Presenters & Analysts standing up.

I was asked why this was, & was at a loss to answer, really. But I suggested it may be connected to red dresses, & female Presenter viewage & pervage. Understandable, really, because even though I say so myself, my legs are a thing of beauty, & don't deserve to be covered up.

Anyway, the Meeting took all this on board, & have decided to see if there are other options to sitting behind a desk. The sofa was mentioned, though that has drawbacks, too (awkward for young ladies to sit on without flashing their thighs, & we don't want that, do we?...), sitting on stools (technical problems there, remarkably), & plain old standing up.

So, yes, they are on the case.

I think what might swing it is that, behind the desk, it is quite awkward to do a passable Lester Piggott or Frankie Dettori impression. And what would the Show be without those?

    Agreed ;)

It's time Sky got real!  Claiming technical problems for sitting on a stool is stretching credulity too far.  What could they be ... would drunken presenters fall off???  Hooray!!!!!

I recall that it used to be the case in the 3 hour live shows (remember when they went out almost every night??) that the presenters used to stand for the first two hours then sit on stools for the final hour.  I thought this was to give tired old legs a rest ... but also thought that it looked more natural than standing behind a rail that wasn't really there.  So, nonsense to technical problems!

And again, the real solution is for Sky to make the return of 3D their number 1 priority.  Let's not get carried away with the idea that it involves digging out a new pit in the new studio floor.  It was a computer generated image for goodness sake, superimposed on a blue floor (unless you still use green).  If you ant me to paint the new floor blue, I'll be happy to oblige!!

Obviously there must be a "technical" reason but I think these threads have already gone on long enough that we need a technical explanation.  The majority of forum users are NOT technical illiterates and should not be treated as such.

TIKAY, could you PLEASE get us a technical explanation in order to end the growing frustration?

I think thats this is a shame that they feel the need to do this, although i also think that maybe the stuido could do with a little livening up.

I agree, i actually prefer it when presenters of shows are actually sitting down talking i have no idea why, just a personal opinion. I like the desk from the Club by the way, maybe you guys could use something similar in the live tournament shows and have the hands on the screen in the background, much like a news read while your discussing it?
