It's always a risk to bet on the Carling cup games & particularly the early rounds as some teams really ain't bothered with it, but if you're like me & are tempted to have a little wager whenever there's any competitive footy going on then these 4 are worth a shot.

QPR to beat Port Vale (H) @ 1/3

Sheff Weds to beat Bury (H) @ 8/15

Huddersfield to beat Carlisle (A) @ 11/8

Derby to beat Crewe (A) @ evens

All to win in 90 mins, these 4 pay a healthy 17/2. If you wanna take a bigger risk for a smaller stake then I'd add these 2 games into the mix as well:

Ipswich to beat Exeter (A) @ 5/4

Plymouth to beat Notts Co (H) @ evens

The 6 way then pays a big 43/1 so maybe worth a quid (or 2?)

5 x 4 folds allows you to have one of your 5 selections let you down & you'll still pick up a win, a kind of safety net if you like. As an example you pick 5 games like below:

A v B

C v D

E v F

G v H

I v J

What you're actually doing is placing 5 bets like so:

BET No 1:

A v B

C v D

E v F

G v H

Bet No 2:

C v D

E v F

G v H

I v J

Bet No 3:

E v F

G v H

I v J

A v B

Bet No 4:

G v H

I v J

A v B

C v D

Bet No 5:

I v J

A v B

C v D

E v F

So you've got 5 different bets. If you then stake £1 per line (per bet) your total stake would be £5.

What most people do when they do these is to also have a straight forward 5 way accumulator as well so if all 5 do come in then your winnings are that much bigger.

Cos I'm bored & can't get through a satellite to save my life today I've also done 50p on a mega long shot which includes a couple of potential upsets. Let's be clear about this, I don't expect it to come in but for 50p it makes the nights footy a bit more interesting.
