PTP - WITH SPT SYNERGY!

edited August 2010 in Poker Chat
Well, hello!

As Tikay's doing his bit for Anglo-Welsh relations this evening, I'll be deputising for him in the 8.30pm Take on Tikay event.  It only costs £2.20 to enter, so hopefully I'll see you at the tables later on.

This is the only tournament I'll be playing tonight (sorry, Monday Night Deep Stack crowd) as I'll be focussing heavily on low-stakes Omaha / Omaha Hi-Lo cash.  Why?

Well, read this:

The fun and frolics kick off at 7pm.  I'll let you know where I am at all times via this thread.

Due to my ongoing knee injury from a weekend of football (for injury please read I'm too old for this stuff) I shall be joining you at the Omaha tables tonight.  Just posting to give a big shout out to any Omaha players or anyone who wants to try it, let's try and make it a big Omaha night :)

Quick poker/film question for you James.  In your opinion, what is the worst ever poker hand shown on a film?  Early nominees have to be the last hands on Casino Royale, Maverick and Cincinnati Kid.

For me, it's a coin flip between the final hands in 'Lucky You' and 'Deal'.

In both cases, the "young gun" folds the best hand so that the "old timer" can have his moment of glory.  I hate the fact that these films promote the idea that collusion is both commonplace and acceptable in poker tournaments!

    Hi Flash,

    Welcome to Sky Poker :)

I assume you're referring to the Take on Tikay tournament?  No, this is not a featured event on channel 865.  But that shouldn't stop you entering!  The buy-in's low, the structure's great and the regulars are a terrific bunch.

Hi James, i cant play tonight, but i should be around next week to attempt this challenge.

Cant be that hard to pwn you at Ohama:)

Good luck and enjoy your evening

OK, let's start the evening with PLO and move onto PLO8 later.

    I'm at Bromley - it's a 5p/10p table.

  • edited August 2010
Wow - that filled up fast!!!

    I've opened a second 5p/10p table - Lewisham.

  • edited August 2010
No chance of getting some people in the PLO8 tourny at 20:25?  Only £3.30 to enter and was always fun when anybody bothered playing it.

Sorry, Aaron - I'm focussing on Omaha cash (for the aforementioned reason).

With the Take on Tikay tournament starting, I've closed one of my Omaha tables.

But you can still find me playing at Bromley (5p/10p).

And there'll be some PLO8 fun later on!

Alas, an early exit for Tikay's substitute from tonight's Take on Tikay tournament :(

So, I will now take a short break - and then it's PLO8 time!

Nice to see the Omaha cash tables busier than usual for a Monday evening :)

Right now, it's time for the Hi-Low shenanigans to begin.  I'm at Easingwald - 2p/4p PLO8.

Quick point of order: "pwnage" (for the purposes of the SPT contest) constitutes scooping a pot against me, not splitting it!

Second 2p/4p PLO8 table now open.  It's called Blagford.

  • edited August 2010
Well, that's me done for tonight.

I won a bit at PLO and lost a bit at PLO8.  End result = I'm up £10.

Great turnout at the Omaha tables this evening.  Hope to see more of you next week for the PTP Bank Holiday Bonanza!

A good night at the PLO / 8 tables.

We must get that PLO8 tournament night on some night.  I'm sure Tikay would get involved if it's your PTP night.  It's been a while since I've seen a big field in a PLO8 tournament.

Would like to say that it was nice to see a PTP night on a level that all can join in with. I myself even managed to sit in.I thought at first about Pwning James but realised that lacked ambition so decided to Pwn the entire table. Result to follow.

Good point, well made, Colin.  Obviously, it's my ambition for more players on the site to give Omaha a go and discover what a terrific game it is.

I'd like to think that everyone had fun last night.  To quote Gareth (35suited), "I may be down on the evening, but I really enjoyed it!"

So, there's a strong argument for me to continue playing small stakes.

Next week, I'll start small and move up the levels as the night goes on.  So, I'll play PLO at 2p/4p, before stepping up to the 5p/10p and 10p/20p tables.

    With PLO8, I'll keep it low - so 2p/4p and 5p/10p.
