    Hi Maxally,

    Here's the explanation

Players Seated = Total seated at all cash tables, active tournaments and sit and go's (If a tournament hasn't started then currently 'registered' players do not count to this figure)

The figure is not unique players, therefore if I am sat at 8 cash tables then this will equate to 8 seated.

Players online = Average no. players logged logged in to the lobby in the last X mins (I believe X = 5).

If you register for a tournament and don't turn up, then when the tournament starts you will be classed as seated, but not online, since you are not logged in.

At 1am is the Night Owls Freeroll, therefore it causes a spike in no. players seated when the tournament starts, this does not necessarily translate to a spike in players online though, since a number of players don't turn up.

This has nothing to do with multi-accounting which is not tolerated on Sky poker

Sorry to disappoint any conspiracy theorists, but you will see the players seated /> players online, pretty much every day at 12:30pm and 1am which is linked to the freerolls!

    Regards

    Adam

Cheers for the reply Adam. I do understand everything you are saying above. However, it has triggered another couple of questions from me.

    1) We keep hearing about 'traffic' being up on this site from the senior presenters here. Are the figures 'manipulated' then to give an impression of more people on line than there actually is? This would obviously be highlighted in August with the freeroll festival.

    2) If these freerolls are constantly getting players 'away', why include them as 'seated'. Surely the system can differentiate between the two and report it accordingly?

    Regards,

    Alan

PS...will this get moved to the techno section now?, lol

    Hi Alan,

No problem, good questions from you as always! :-)

    Here's my feedback

    1) There are many metrics which are used to determine growth in the poker room, the total figure for no. seated players is definitely not one of them, as it would be heavily skewed by freerolls as you have pointed out. There is no manipulation in the comments by the Presenters, Sky Poker is growing 10%+ year on year, which when compared to the recent figures announced by the majority of online poker rooms, both networked and independent (available online) is an impressive figure.

    2) Yes i'm sure it would be possible, but the players are seated at the table, if they are away then they can sit back in at any time which could cause big swings to the figure in the lobby. The current method is the industry norm and we have no plans to change it

Thanks again for the questions, I hope this response has answered them

    Kind Regards

    Adam

Statistics dont always show the whole truth. If one of the bigger sites has say 1,000,000 online players and they improve by 50,000 players thats a 5% upturn, if like sky you have say 50,000 players and you get 5000 improvement then that is an upswing of 10%. Its always easier to get a higher percentage swing when dealing with smaller numbers!
