Is this rude etiket

edited September 2010 in Poker Chat
Joined a £1/2 table with £75, first hand get AA and slow play and 2 all ins pre flop and the pot is £525 and i shove for £600, A72-3-Q

I win the pot, then i stand and exit the table before logging off and watching some racing?

Should I of stayed for them? no chance mate, cya later.

I don't quite understand MadHorse - you sat down with £75 - do you mean the pot pre was £525 and the action came to you and you shoved to make it £600 total? You would have won £225 give or take a few pounds when considering the rake charges and also the Blinds?

    No, but it's bloody lucky!

    fwiw, the word is "etiquette"

lol, who cares, we are Champions League.

Why don't you go back to your stables and eat some hay or something...

It's not bad etiquette but it generally provides a few choice comments from the people you have just stacked.  However it's your money and your choice, you're perfectly entitled to stand whenever you choose.

And FWIW, I think you'll find that 'Arrys looky-likey is of course Bagpuss.

I wouldnt say this is bad not at all. I used to hit and run cash tables when i was mainly play mtts between tournaments id hit a cash table double up and go.

Its not something id do now, but thats because im trying to learn cash, if i can improve my cash game my MTT game will improve too.

Anyways, no i see people doing this all the time, ok if im the loser then yea i want to come back get "my" money back and stack the rest off of you, however on this occassion you had the better hand and beat me, you decided you wanted to leave,

fair play and ill get you next time if i can remember your name. This is actually a tactic i use if i dont want someone writing notes on how i played a hand, i press stand during the hand on all tables im table sharing with during that hand.

Bet u were gutted when there were 2 all ins before you first hand, and u saw aces, then remembered you'd only sat with less than 5 big blind!!!

Like backing a 100/1 outsider then remembering you only had 10p ew on it.

It's your choice to hit and run or not. Some players get unhappy because they don't get the chance to win it back. It mainly depends on what type of cash game you play, FR it's not really frowned on unless you do it repeatedly, same with 6-max except you get noticed quicker. HU though, you start doing that then nobody will give you action.

let me tell ypu why i dont believe you!!

    # Its a £200 buy in and you sit down with £75
    # Its the first hand and players at that level will know there is a new player at the table and will want to suss him out
    # Your telling me that two players each with £262.50 in there stack would shove with anything but aces?!!!!
#The only way this could happen is if both had ace king which they couldnt of had or one had kings and the other was a complete idiot.
#You would of posted the hand
#You wouldn't of walked away with £600 quid you would of had £225 so the one of the other players won a bigger pot £375 (why would they get annoyed)
    #You cannot spell

    +1 fully agree!

At my local casino house rules say you have to give one cycle notice to stand, mind you nowt to stop hit and runners folding every hand till they leave.

i did not think about the maths of the story just the moral side of it, but must agree the maths do not add up as the most u can win from each player is £75 LESS THE DREADED RAKE!

As mentioned we need a hand history here to sort out any crossed wires.

I think people instinctively don't like hit and runners because they still see the element of the social side of poker at work.

If you can completely own a game then if you get a big win then you can stay and take everyone else's money.

If, as it is almost all of the time, it's a more even game then the only thing that can be achieved by staying is letting them win some of it back.

    Poker is meant to be about making good, rational, +EV choices;

You should develop good table selection
You should develop good hand selection
You should bet, raise and fold according to what is most likely to make you the most money.

Why should your decision as to when to leave the table be decided by anything other than it being the most profitable time to leave?
