Oi Hartigan- you're just scared because I'm now turning my attention to your specialised subject and we both know it's only a matter of time before I become better at it than you.

    Say, 30 or 40 years...

Based on my performance in recent weeks, it shouldn't take you more than 30 or 40 seconds!

By the way, why on earth are you starting at 10p/20p?  Run before you can walk, man ;-)

    Cheers Pillowman- will do.

Well into my first night of Omaha and I'm only 1 and a half buy-ins down! Not bad!!!

    Now on Table Ickham 10p/20p
  • edited September 2010
Right- so I've lost FOUR buy-ins on my first night.

Think that's gone quite well, all-in-all.

I might just drop down to the 2p/4p tables though next time. You know, just to be on the safe side. Ahem...

Thanks to the players and railers tonight- appreciate it.

And also genuinely appreciate any advice on Omaha. I'm finding myself limping in on practically every hand (probably not great tactics) but when I raise pre-flop, I never seem to connect with the board in a convincing way because you know you have to be absolutely huge.

So- my question is- is there any point in raising pre-flop in Omaha when you always get multiple callers and the flop is much more likely to be massive for someone else?

    Any thoughts gratefully received...

Ok- up to £5.60 off my £4 buy-in.

    Tonight going much better!

I'm also scouring the web for Omaha tips and here's a little something I found of interest

The top 30 Omaha starting hands. NB- All hands must be double-suited:

    1. A-A-K-K 11. K-Q-J-T 21. Q-Q-A-K
    2. A-A-J-T 12. K-K-T-T 22. Q-Q-A-J
    3. A-A-Q-Q 13. K-K-A-Q 23. Q-Q-A-T
    4. A-A-J-J 14. K-K-A-J 24. Q-Q-K-J
    5. A-A-T-T 15. K-K-A-T 25. Q-Q-K-T
    6. A-A-9-9 16. K-K-Q-J 26. Q-Q-J-T
    7. A-A-x-x 17. K-K-Q-T 27. Q-Q-J-9
    8. J-T-9-8 18. K-K-J-T 28. Q-Q-9-9
    9. K-K-Q-Q 19. Q-Q-J-J 29. J-J-T-T
    10. K-K-J-J 20. Q-Q-T-T 30. J-J-T-9

What do we think? Do we agree with that list???

  • edited September 2010
    Wow- the 2p/4p tables rock!

Sat down with £4 and walked away with £17.21. That's more than a quadruple up!

Now all I've got to do is repeat that at the £1/£2 tables... :(

Played much better tonight but I think I'll stick on this level for a while yet...lol!

In Response to The Omaha Surgery- Doctor O is ready to see you now...:
Sooo, I've basically cracked hold'em.  Well, you don't come 20th in the Primo by accident do you? It takes proper skill to get your money in behind with 9s versus Aces and spike a 9 on the river to become a chip leader. Proper skill. Anyway, with hold'em effectively licked, I'm now looking for a new challenge. Therefore, I'm going to spend September playing...please try not to laugh...Omaha. So, for the benefit of everyone who will be playing me, and with honesty uppermost in my mind as ever- here's everything I know about Omaha on one-handy cribsheet- (1) It was one of the beaches in Saving Private Ryan. Not one of those beaches you'd sunbathe on though. Far from it... (2) It's a city in Nebraska. Nebraska is in the United States. (3) It's a poker game. (4) You start with four cards. (5) You call a lot. (6) You aim for quads minimum, a straight flush as standard and, as often as possible, a royal flush. Say, once every 7 or 8 orbits. Top pair ain't gonna cut it here folks. (7) It makes your brain hurt. (8) Tikay and Hartigan play it- so it can't be that difficult. And that's it- I genuinely know nothing more. Sure, Tikay has given me plenty of Omaha advice over the years but, and I'm not being rude, I wasn't listening to a word he said.  A whole month then of Omaha- please come and join me this Tuesday night in my first session from 7pm till midnight. And please feel free to impart your wisdom re-the game right here, in Doctor O's Omaha Surgery. Seriously, it would be great for us all, newbies and seasoned veterans, to use this thread to help each other become better Omaha players. Good luck then all you Omaharians during September and remember- every time you rob me blind and mock me over the next four weeks...I still finished Top 20 in the Primo tonight. BOOM! ;)

Snap? Right, don't tell me, that's the one where you have to match up Mrs.Bun with Mr. Bun? Right?

Yay, snap it is. I'll start on the £50/£100 tables...

Well, the plain sailing has come to an end- I've lost one buy-in on my last table

All told though I've made around 22 quid in my last 3 sessions of Omaha which is not bad on Pot Limit 2p/4p.

Hope to see you on the Omaha tables again soon!

Right after this I decided to go back to NLH.

£10 dym before bed I decided.

But woopsee I entered an Omaha dym by pure accident.

Drat and darn it. But then I remembered the words of the Omaha Zen master Orford.

    And I casssshhhheeedddddd!!!!!!!

I've sussed that the only reason Kendall and Hartigan are so into Omaha is because it's so easy. We've sussed them Rich. Time to play them at their own game.

    Good effort Bandini!

We will beat Kendall and Hartigan yet!

Right- I'm on Play The Presenter duties tonight. So, from 7pm, I will loitering with intent on the 2p/4p Pot Limit Omaha tables and I may even go up a level tonight or enter an Omaha MTT if I'm feeling brave enough.

Come and look me up- 'richorford' under Find A Player.

I'll be around till midnight, draining you of your hard-earned cash. Or possibly the other way round...
  • edited September 2010
Shouldnt that be "probably" the other way round... ;)
