Sky Poker Forums is upgrading its look! Stay tuned for the big reveal!
Three men went to a hotel to rent a room, the cost of the room was $30. Each man paid $10 to the bellboy and proceeded to their room. After a little while the bellboy realized that there was a special on rooms that night and the price for the men's room should have been $25. On his way to the men's room to give them back $5, he was puzzled how he was going to split $5 as he had no change. He decided he would give them each $1 and keep the remaining $2 for himself. So each man originally paid $10, but after the bellboy gave each man $1 back, each man paid $9.
9 x 3 = $27 plus the $2 the bellboy put in his pocket equals $29. The original price for the room was $30. Where did the last dollar go?

A 'snooker' table (measuring 8 metres by 4m) with 4 'pockets' (measuring 0.5m and placed at diagonal slants in all 4 corners) contains 10 balls (each with a diameter of 0.25m) placed at the following coords:
2m,1m...(white ball)
...and red balls...
1m,5m... 2m,5m... 3m,5m
1m,6m... 2m,6m... 3m,6m
1m,7m... 2m,7m... 3m,7m
The white ball is then shot at a particular angle from 0 to 360 degrees (0 being north, and going clockwise).
Just to make it clear, a ball is 'potted' if at least half of the ball is in area of the 'pocket'
Assuming the balls travel indefinitely (i.e. no loss of energy via friction, air resistance or collisions), answer the following:
a: What exact angle/s should you choose to ensure that all the balls are potted the quickest?
b: What is the minimum amount of contacts the balls can make with each other before they are all knocked in?
c: Same as b, except that each ball - just before it is knocked in - must not have hit the white ball on its previous contact (must be a red instead of course).
d: What proportion of angles will leave the white ball the last on the table to be potted?
First one's just misleading. No dollar has gone anywhere. 3 men have paid $9 each = $27. $25 has gone to the hotel, bell boy has kept $2. I'm not sure but I think it's a leson in why there's a certain order mathematical caclulations are done in a certain way. I seem to remember something from school...BODMAS or BIDMAS or something meaning first do the brackets, then divide, then multiply and finally add and subtract?? Maybe somebody can expand on this...
Can I explain it that, the $27 dollars minus the $2 kept as tip makes the $25 dollar for the room!!
It's something like a 'mathematical optical illusion' me thinks!! Pray do explain
ps Q2 is a pise of piishhh
if the guys paid $30 and it was supposed to be $25 then they have paid $8.33 origanally so givin back $3 then it goes to $28 and bellboy has tip
$30 - $1 - $1 - $1 - $2 = $25 $2 should be subtracted for the bell boy 9x3 is with the tip added
any1 got an anwser for q2 yet
A, 30 , 60' , 45' approx
B, 9
C, 10
D, 100% SIMPLES!!
OR IS THAT THE BIGGEST BLUFF OF MY SKYPOKER CAREER!!
This went went up in flames like a cub-scout with two sticks!!!!!
