edited September 2010 in The Poker Clinic
IVE NEVER PLAYED AT THIS LEVEL UNTIL TONIGHT

I SPOTTED A CPL OF POTS OVER £10 AND DECIDED TO TAKE A LOOK - WOULD PPL WHO  PLAY  THIS LEVEL SAY THAT ITS MUCH EASIER THAN 4P/8P OR 5P/10P?

MP33, i agree, NL4 is easier than the slightly higher stakes, particularly if the correct game is applied.

id  say the fact it was 4:20am!!! may of made it easier to win at nl4!!!!

first hand well you flopped a set! easy money.....

second hand who knows lol. maybe he shoved thinking most of the time you would fold??

but yeah id say nl4 and nl8 are the same nl10 gets better imo..........

I play 4 - 30nl depending on which tables have free seats with certain players on them, IMO the lower the limit the looser the play. I reckon AA & KK have a better chance of holding up at 20nl than 4nl because of this, to balance it out, you need to multi table more at the lower end.

    IMO!

The good thing about 4nl is you dont need to read people at all.  Load up as many tables as you can and play your cards on their strength

In some ways easier (your good hands get paid off by the station with bottom pair) but you have to balance that against the frequency/cost/annoyance of being outdrawn by said station.

this is very true, however if you play right and pot size correctly you should still make an easy profit. i played 4p/8p a couple of days ago and there was deffo more agression than 2p/4p........ although still some crazy all in ins etc

There is no correct pot size against nl4 stations - they'll call with ANYTHING.  Obviously odds dictate that most of the time your best hand holds up.  Psychology dictates that those times 52off beat your pocket As leave a greater imprint.

Im sorry I disagree. If you give them bad odds to chase their draws then in the long run you will be on top. Luck varys, maths does not. Doesnt matter if its at 2p/ 4p  or £1/£2 that remains true......of course at higher levels there is more to it than just odds.....i would imagine - lol
  • edited September 2010
You can be as sorry as you like - most players at nl4 do not even have the most basic grasp of pot odds - they'd rather just focus on the miracle card.
  • edited September 2010
of course - and i agree with you on that, but that makes it easier to win against them. im not saying you wont get bad beats, you will, more so than higher levels because of what you state above.

Just stating that if you give them bad odds (weather they grasp it or not doesnt matter one Iota - in fact i am better off when they dont so I can chase my own draws cheaply) and you call when you have the right odds, then you will....in the end be on top at this level - no doubt about it.

Sure - I did pretty well.  Put in £20 and withdrew £100.  My br was much higher but went on the most spectacular losing streak combined with callers from hell - cynic?  Moi??  Mais Oui.

Hense why its best to multi table NL4, see my strategy guide, its in the clinic, somewhere.
  • edited September 2010
Did that.  Too fidgety to play anything less than 4 at a time.
