hi me again.playing live for first time on sat unsure of 1 thing please help.if player b4 me raises say about 200 and i wish to re raise to 400. do i anounce raise to 400 or do i say raise 500 total. thanks.

whatever amount you wish to put into the pot, just say i'd like to make it to 1000 total.

Announce the total raise, and be sure to firmly state RAISE before putting any chips in the middle, especially when putting a single chip in (say the bet is 300 and you want to raise to 1000, if the chip goes in before you say raise, or even at the same time, it's deemed a call).

Seems simple, but it's a mistake I made more than a few times at my first live appearance, easily done! Or I'm just stupid. ^^

it depends entirely on what the blinds are.

if the blinds are 50/100 and he raises to 200, you can raise to 300minimum, if you are going to verbally declare it which you dont have to do, i would just say "Raise *pause* 400"
