Poker magazines and books

After looking for months for poker magazines in my local newsagents and supermarkets I never saw one. But after seeing something advertised I signed up for "Poker Player" and just received my first copy yesterday (the one with Annette Obrestad on cover)

Very interesting read, although it didn,t take long (pg 24) to see Tikay in there. The caption was "Simon Turner congratulates APAT WCOAP champ ben Young".  Are you sure you were supposed to be in that pic tikay??


Anyway my question is  which magazines do you find best and why?

Also does anyone know of a good book for NL hold em for MTT,s and cash?

ps - I have Super System 1 online but am told it is a bit dated now and was told by a v.good player on here to get a book called "Power hold em" or something like that by Daniel Negreanu, but haven,t found it yet. Has anyone read it?

    Try WHSMITH, they have had a couple of differnt magazines dedicated to poker, about 2 weeks ago. Will have a look over the weekend. They're normally next to the Sea Angler

    my local WH stocks WPT magazine and poker player, but i subbed to PP as its only a pound a copy and you got a PKR online strategy manual thrown in. not bad at all.

    PP is a great read in my opinion, WPT is okay but i much prefer PP. I've read Card Player and it's a horribly laid out magazine, it seems that a five year old edited the layout!

    In terms of books, anything by harrington, every hand revealed by Gus Hansen and also for a more mathematical read i'd say Holden on Hold 'em.

    PP is great read try to get it often, occasionaly WPT isnt too bad but mainly for tourney results it even had about the SPT final in there. as for books i have a few but can never read them due to time etc so what a waste that was, read the odd bit so i think books are cheating :P

    Harrington on holdem is an excellent book - In my opinion everything you read in poker magazines you can get online from poker websites so no reason to buy magazines.

    I've just subscribed to WPT magazine for my iPad,  Mag is OK, but reading it on the iPad is uber cool ;o)

    i bet, i havent ordered any books hardly use mine! so annoying you dont get flash as playing sky poker on it would be the nuts!

    i mostly see poker magazines lying around in casino card rooms.  Plenty to read when you get when I get knocked out and wait around for mates.
