Total Miss- Read

edited September 2010 in The Poker Clinic

Small raise pre, which didn’t ring any alarm bells, so I limp in. However, following the flop, the player comes out, with a nice bet. I’ve got top pair, with a decent kicker. I’m putting her on a small pair and trying to steal the pot, mainly because of the tasty raise.  So I’m thinking a just a call will do.

Turn brings nothing, so I’m thing I’m still ahead, when the she fires another big bet. Again still thinking she’s trying to have me off, I re raise hoping for a fold.  She calls and bang, came the bullets.

Totally miss read her betting out on the flop. Luckily, queen on the river saves me. The usual grumbles came back in the chat box, such as “ridiculous RR Q10 TP.”

Should I have played this any different? Any thoughts…

Cheers

Mac

just little nitpick when you call a 3xbb raise that isnt the same as limping in.

why do you reraise the turn hoping for a fold, do you expect opponent to fold QJ?

the flop bet screams strength to me its a 4way pot and opponent leads for OVER the pot, i would say there is a case for folding the flop if player is reasonably tight tbh

fold pre imo! You made the rest of the hand difficult to read by callng the flop either fold it or re raise there. When a player leads out to a 4 player hand they are strong 90% of the time so re raise there and find out. I would of folded pre but if not i would or re raised flop and folded to a shove

Thanks for the feed back guys.

Normally, i would have considered the strong lead out, just didn't feel that she had much and was stealing. Like i said total miss read of her actions.

    Cheers

Fold pre, oop and Q10 not a fan tbh. very well disguised by villain but thats ze problem with Q10, could easily be behind to QJ, KQ, AQ, although this is 4nl  not worth making ambitous calls pre
