JJ OTB facing 4 bet - clear fold?

edited October 2010 in The Poker Clinic
Player A has been at the table for around 30-40 minutes or so. I've played against him a couple of times but actually have no notes on him. I vaguely remember the last couple of times I played against him I was on a very loose aggro table which is probably why I haven't made notes cos he'd done nothing that really made me sit up & take notice.

However, this session he'd been quite aggro. Open raising more than I would expect but I hadn't seen him 4 bet pre before. Previously in this session if there had been a 3 bet to his raise he'd always flat. Unfortunately I don't recall any of these situations getting to showdown either as he'd either take it down before the river or give up.

I wasn't really worried about player B. I think this must have been the first time I've played against him as I didn't recognise the name. He brought in short & his stack has been up & down like a yo-yo. He called most PF raises regardless of position.

The reason I 3 bet here is because this was now the 3rd hand running that player A had OR pre & whilst it's possible he'd had a run of good cards I felt that he could well be at it. Given how I've seen him play during the session is this a clear cut fold or is that too nitty?

Cheers in advance

Jay

I must admit I thought about it & folded at the last second. Despite the fact the guy had been proper aggro in this session I just didn't feel I was in that good a position. I just wasn't sure if this was being too nitty in a cash game which was why I posted it.

As it turned out player A had AK & player B who I wasn't worried about had 99.

Ive started folding marginal stuff, (even Ace high yesterday coz my kicker-kicker was only a queen)

TommyD posted a line a while back on here, that always sticks in my mind......

If the situation gets tricky, and ur in 2 minds, pretend you have 7-2 off and fold it!

    Served me well :)
