DYM!

edited October 2010 in The Poker Clinic
Very first hand in a £5 DYM! I thought i'd play them aggressively after the raise pre flop and same again post flop. Is this the correct play? Obviously in this situation it just played itself, but in other situations when I get AA first few hands, is it right to play them aggressively? Cheers!

Yes definately correct to play them this aggressively, you can never fold AA on that flop in a £5.50 DYM there's just too many hands you're beating that will stack off here (any over pair and some flush draws + overcards) and only 3 you're losing to (33, 44, 88 which have made sets - and would have made a dodgy call pre-flop to set mine with the odds you laid).

Personally, I think your raise pre-flop is a touch high (obviously it works when your opponent has KK but there's weaker hands you don't really want to fold out) - I prefer a standard raise to 180 (3 x their raise) in these spots. I like your strong bet on the flop as there is a flush draw out there and the pot is already well worth taking down (also, with the flop being so low you can bet stronger anyway knowing full well your still going to get a double up off any over pair).
