RAISING PRE FLOP

edited August 2009 in Area 51

After listening to Tikays advice on the Poker Channel, i have taking his advice by raising pre flop, with AK AQ etc.  and every time i do it i have never hit one of my cards yet, some one usually wins with 22, 55 etc. Am i just unlucky or is Sky poker an unreal site for the way the cards are distributed?

That's the way poker works, Live, & Online, the world over.

You need to "hit" with AK or AQ, as it's losing to 22 & 55.

If you get to see all 5 board cards, you are slightly less than even money to hit one of your 6 outs, though the made hands (22, 55 etc) can also improve by setting up.

So, providing you see all 5 board Cards you will, on average, win 1 times in 2 with AK or AQ v an Underpair. And you will lose 1 time in 2!
