Don't forget it's basically YOUR best five cards against the villain's best five cards which are made up of your two and the community cards.

So his best is A, K, K, K, 10 and yours is A, K, K, K, 9.

If the 7 was a J for example then you would have split it equally if I am not mistaken.

I think you're getting slightly confused. They have two pair each due to two 2's in the community cards. So their best cards are A, A, Q, 2, 2 - i.e. the same. 6 and 9 kickers don't matter as the Q is better than both.

You aren't quite getting it with the second hand. The Ace IS used correct but like I say 3 kings, Ace next and then 10 is the next best after that (which your villain has), hence you lose with a 9.

you have to use 5 of the available 7 cards to you to make th best possible hand.. in this case the bast hand available to both players is (2pair aa + 22 queen kicker) aa22q
