30/31/10/10 plus1/2/3/11/10 BETS

edited November 2010 in The Football Corner
I picked up a win for the first time in a while in midweek so hopefully I can continue tomorrow

3 bets for me

Main Acca:

Peterborough/Brighton - Over 2.5 goals @ 8/11
Huddersfield to beat Walsall (H) @ 4/9
Shrewsbury to beat Barnet (H) @ 8/13
Motherwell to beat Hamilton (H) @ 8/11

These 4 are paying a decent 11/2 so I've had a tenner on them.

If I lived in Peterborough then I'd be more than happy to go & watch them as a neutral this season. In their 6 league games at London Road so far the fans have seen a whopping 33 goals go in! That's an average of 5.5 goals per game & if that ain't value for money then I don't know what is. Both of these sides have got goals in them & there should be a few more here.
Huddersfield have had a bit of a blip in the last month or so but at the Galpharm they're still a force to be reckoned with. Walsall are struggling at the wrong end of the table this season & have only 1 win from 6 on the road so far which came at fellow strugglers Brentford at the start of the season. They've only beaten Huddersfield once in their last 5 meetings (they've lost the other 4) & have lost their last 5 visits to Huddersfield.
I can't believe that Shrewsbury are not a much shorter price than the 8/13 on offer. They've yet to lose at home this season, winning 4 & drawing 2 & they meet a Barnet side who have the worst away record in the division. In their 6 games away from home so far they've managed a solitary point against Morecambe. They've lost the other 5 & have conceded 18 goals in the process.
Motherwell are in good form at the moment. They've only lost 1 of their last 6 in the league & that came away at league leaders Rangers who have won all 9 of their games so far. The other 5 have seen them win 4 & draw 1 so they should see off a Hamilton side who are currently 2nd bottom with only 1 league win all season. Recent history between the two teams is certainly on Motherwell's side as well & they're unbeaten in the last 5 league meetings.

Long Shot Acca:

Fulham/Wigan - DRAW @ 12/5
QPR/Burnley - DRAW @ 5/2
Pompey to beat Forest (H) @ 6/5
Rotherham to beat Southend (A) @ 13/8
Chesterfield to beat Stevenage (A) @ 2/1

These 5 are paying a mammoth 205/1 so only small stakes here. As usual with my long shots I've done 6 x trebles @ 50p per line & 1 x 6 fold for £1. Should 3 come in then I get my total stake money back (actually it's a minimum of £2.66 profit fwiw), if 4 come in then it's a minimum of £23 profit & should all 5 make it then the milky bars are on me :)

Five of the last 7 league meetings between Fulham & Wigan have ended in draws & seeing as Fulham seem to be the draw specialists this season this seems like a good place to start a long shot bet.
A month ago I would've backed Rangers to take all 3 points from this game but although they've still to lose a league game this season, they have gone off the boil a bit. They've drawn 4 of their last 5 games & whilst Burnley are yet to win on the road this season they have drawn 4 away from Turf Moor so far & are decent enough to sneak another point at Loftus Road.
Portsmouth have found some form recently & are unbeaten in their last 6 league games (won 5). Forest haven't really found their mojo so far & have only one win on the road this season.
Rotherham will either win this comfortably or this pick will blow up in my face! Their away form has been better this season & they are certainly in better form than their opponents who have lost their last 3 league games.
I know that Stevenage have been decent at home so far but this price was just too big to ignore. Chesterfield have won 4 of their last 5 home & away & their only defeat on the road so far came at Rotherham who a strong at home.

Goals Goals Goals Acca - all are both teams to score:

Everton/Stoke @ evens
Pompey/Forest @ 4/5
Derby/Watford @ 8/11
Peterborough/Brighton @ 8/13
Aldershot/Bury @ 8/11

These 5 are paying a healthy 16/1 so I've had a couple of quid here.

Good luck if you're having a bet this weekend.

Jay

    F U MOTHERWELL!!!

Still, at least I know it's not just me & even the "pros" are having a tough time with bets as well.

To quote Andy Totham (Sun betting tipster):

"We all have to admit picking an accumulator this season has been more difficult than being a Rooney marriage counsellor & Gary Neville brain surgeon combined. Now if you could have picked in form Burnley to flop 4-0 at home to Reading last week & high scoring Watford to sink 2-0 at home to lowly Scunthorpe then please......invite me to your yacht!"

I must admit, at first I thought it was just me choosing improbable winners but every week I check my picks against Andy's picks & at least 90% of the time he's had the same ones.

Never mind, there's a few more games tomorrow for me to get wrong as well. Not that It'd make any difference now, but I'm just glad that I didn't back Man City today either!

need you to tip Sunderland for tomorrow m8 ;0)
  • edited October 2010
Sorry to disappoint you Rob but I'll be backing Newcastle all the way tomorrow :)

I've gone for 2 bets for tomorrow:

    Villa/Birmingham - DRAW @ 5/2
Newcastle to beat Sunderland @ 11/10
Liverpool to beat Bolton @ 5/4

    The treble is paying 15/1 so I've done 3 x doubles & 1 x treble @ £2.50 per line.

I can't believe I'm backing Liverpool but I'm going purely on instinct with this one. The form book ain't helped me all season so I may as well try something else!

    For my 2nd bet:

    Villa/Birmingham - Over 2.5 goals @ evens
    Newcastle/Sunderland - Over 2.5 goals @ 10/11
    Bolton/Liverpool both to score @ 5/6
Hearts to beat Kilmarnock @ 8/11

These 4 are paying 11/1 so I've had £2 on that.

I fully expect one from each bet to let me down but I know that if I don't put them on they'll all romp in & I'll be even more gutted. What with footy results going mental & variance constantly kicking me square in the nuts over the past couple of weeks I've been running at a loss so a change of fortunes would be nice :)

ffs, you are doing Hearts as well!!! hope you get a win ;0)
  • edited October 2010
WT F happened with Hearts today?!? Not that it made any difference to that bet anyway but even still.

If nothing else I've got my money back now what with the draw at Villa & the barcodes currently 5-0 up. I just need Liverpool to start behaving like a decent team & get the points at the meccano stadium this afternoon

    FFS, what happened with Hearts?????

You backed them!!!! at least you never cursed Newcastle.

Aight, just scanning 365 and seen Blackpool are 19/10, 2/1 to win at home tonight.

That is just TOO BIG eve against an in form side, so depending on how the poker goes this afternoon, I'll be having a pretty chunky bet on that.

Probz 50ish, If poker goes really well or really badly, it will prob end up being 100.

I watched Blackpool at home to City on sky, and they battered them in the first half. Also 2nd half away at Chelsea, when fair enough the game was over, but they outplayed the champions away from home.

It's one of those games that Holloway will have targeted, as the type of game they must win to survive this year, so no doubt he'll have them up for it. Night game, so gr8 atmosphere, I'll be drunk, and there's nowt else on TV, so that 2/1 looks even better :)

What do u guys think to that price???
  • edited November 2010
2/1 home win against wba is a great price and well worth a smallish punt.

Have took the 4/6 over 2.5 option myself for £30 so all goals will be cheered.

Theyve gone out slightly to 21/10........

    I can't get away from it, I think it's a cracking bet!!!

Had my last £44 on it in my 365 account.......but with 50 mins to kick-off, that could even trebble.....

Maybe teams are in and Charlie Adam Isn't fit??? I don't understand the price......

I cud do alot here, this cud be Hugggggggggggggggggggggggeeeeeeeeeeeee

ffs, this throws a spanner in the works.

Blackpool DO Include Charlie Adam, but I cant get away from West Brom.

Backed them at 13/8 earlier today at (sounds like) Moral.

Lol quite horrified how much West Brom have been in the game since they went down to 9.....

So being Ultra negative, I've had a tenner on the draw in running, @ 8/1, so if it ends up 1-1, I lose 20 rather than 100.

Still stand to win £200 ish tho!!!!!!

    Sort it out Ian Holloway?!!!!

I've gone for 3 bets tonight

    Main Bet:

    Brighton to beat Exeter (H) @ 1/2
    Southampton to beat Dagenham (H) @ 4/11
    Chesterfield to beat Accrington (H) @ 8/11

All small odds but this really should come in & it's paying 12/5.

I've also gone for two small stake long shots tonight as well:

    1st Longshot (£1 stake)

The 3 above from my main bet plus:
Hartlepool to beat Notts Co (H) @ 9/5
Huddersfield to beat Sheff Weds (A) @ 9/5
    Peterborough to beat Walsall (A) @ 6/5
    Rotherham to beat Macclesfield (H) @ 4/5

    These 7 are paying a massive 105/1

2nd Long Shot (£1 stake) - All are both to score

    Swindon/Charlton @ 8/11
    Rochdale/Oldham @ 4/5
    Sheff Weds/Huddersfield @ 4/5
    Carlisle/Tranmere @ 5/6
    Brentford/Bournemouth @ 5/6
    Crewe/Shrewsbury @ 8/13
    Werder Bremen/FC Twente @ 4/7
    Spurs/Inter @ 8/11

    These 8 are paying 81/1

    Good luck peeps

    Jay

That 105/1 shot lookin good Jay, bet u're gettin quite excited!!! First one is in the bag also......

Need United to get a goal!! Spurs to hold!!! Dohhhhhhh to collect !!!
  • edited November 2010

    Im sure a wimp.

At 88 minutes and 30 seconds, I had a quick 3 quid on the draw in running @ 8/1.

At 88 minutes and 45 seconds, Spurs scored again. Sigh.

    Still, 4-0, 3-0, 3-0 and 3-1, £8,80 returns £82, - 3 quid stupidly laid off = about £70 profit !

2 in 2 nights, happy dayssssssssssssssssssssssssss

  • edited November 2010
Bleedin' Rotherham! never mind, first one came in so still in profit for tonight. Two in a row now, let's hope that tomorrow is third time lucky (although I'd quite happily lose a bet or two tomorrow night if I could get my hands on that double rollover!)
  • edited November 2010
Not much about tonight but I've gone for a treble with a slight risk.

Bayern to beat CFR Cluj (A) @ 5/6
    Chelseas to beat Spartak (H) @ 2/9
    Arsenal to beat Shakhtar (A) @ 6/4

These 3 are paying 9/2 so I've had £12.97 on it (I hate having odd amounts in my account so like to round it down!). Returns just over £70 if it rolls in.

Bayern & Arsenal are slight risks being away from home, but given the form of both of them (particularly in this competition) & the fact that 3 points will see them through to the next round, they should be strong enough to see off their respective opponents. Plus those prices are just too big to ignore imo.
