Given stack sizes, what do I do on this flop?

edited November 2010 in The Poker Clinic

I've been sat at the table with X for about 25 minutes or so now. I've recently dropped down a level due to a real bad run & losing confidence so I have no notes on him & I don't recognise the name either so I'm going purely on what I've seen so far.

Player X likes to limp a lot & has already limped/called pre against me 4/5 times already when I've raised. On all except one occasion he has donk bet lead out on the flop against me & has generally folded to any 3-bet from me on the flop. The only time he didn't b/f was when he had TP & I had an ovepair.

I could be ahead here or I could be behind & if he has a bigger stack then I think the best move here would be to raise him & re-evaluate depending on what he does. However, given his stack I'm pretty much committed to any future bet he makes if I raise here right? Or does this line of thought really not matter too much in a cash game?
