H'mmmm, that's not a risk worth taking. You made a good fold IMO. You have to risk £7.94 to win a split worth only 72p. Your opponent only needs to be holding 9c, Th, Ts, JJ, QQ, KK or AA one time in ten to make this a -ev call. He's probably pinching it, but I fold. I put him on a bluff, JJ or QQ.
