you have no fold equity, you need 10-12 bigs to get some folds

I figured they all had nothing special,
If I just call I've no chance of the pot,
and my stack just gets blinded again.
Only expected a call with A? or pair.

its 1400 to win 3800, you will get called by any 2 cards.  3/1 is big in holdem

Indeed, i probably would call with 72os becuase if u dnt have a pair im getting the right odds.

It was a good shove IMO because it successfully made 2 of the limpers fold and gave you excellent odds. If all 3 had called you'd be on thin ice with 23o, but at least if your cards did get lucky you'd quadruple up and be right back in it.

Shoving OOP at an unraised pot with any 2 against several timid limpers is probably a good +ev move when you're down to say 5 to 10 BB. It's less likely to work in bounty hunter tournaments where you'll find the players tend to call much lighter than usual chasing bounties.

    Cheers Gary,
2 of the limpers would have had to call ~40% of their stack just to see the flop,
and with the big stack calling and not showing any aggro pre, (he was set mining),
If I hadn't shoved he would have cleaned-up, as he hit his set on the flop.

    In the simplest terms...

    No, no you weren't.

    Thanks for listening.

when your that short and know you need to shove and get lucky to stand a chance you might as well shove when there is more money in the pot.

If you folded and waited for the next hand and took the blind, you would still be in a bad position.

So I would say it was the right move.

i think its really close actually, 56s+ i would definately ship it in but 23o is the actual worst hand to be doing it with
  • edited November 2010
shoving against 3 limpers with 3 high is suicidal, its not wrong to be called giving 2/1 which makes 3/1 pretty easy

    bad shove, no fold equity

23 o/s is not a good hand to gamble with

dont give up freechips1, i get it lol
