Rileys Poker League

edited December 2010 in Poker Chat

Was just wondering if anyone played in their local Rileys poker League?

Its a step up from playing in the pub and good live experience. Good structure as well - - 10,000 chips and 20 minute blinds

Every 12 weeks the top 4 or 5 go through to the finals at DTD in Nottingham. I,ve played in a cpl of SPT,s and Newcastle will be my 3rd, but I,ve always wanted to play at the so-called biggest card room in the country.

i did win it in the first week from 37 players but couldn,t make it every week and soon slipped down the leaderboard

it was the play offs tonight, for anyone who had played 4 or more times with 2 seats available. My best hand of the night was AJ and i just missed out , coming 5th from  27 players. Absoluely GUTTED

Unfornately my local Rileys has between 30-40 players each week, whereas others round the country don,t seem to get as many runners but still offer the same amount of seats

its definately worth checking out though for anyone wanting to improve their live game, and a good laugh at the same time. it can be found on the internet under your local Rileys or "Redtooth Poker Leaague"

I used to play in my local for the red tooth poker league.

but we won entry to a regional at bramall lane then into a national tourny at DTD.

we get 30-40 aswell which is brillaint to say theres only really a couple of small villages in range of the pub. won the play offs once 3-9th placing, but couldnt go to the regional due to an xam the next day :/

I do love it though and go whenever i can, but due to moving away to uni i can hardly attend only at holidays, some great banter, beer and catch up with mate and a decent format.

i currently am a sub franchisee of the nuts poker league - so the other poker league is out of the question for me.

Although i must say it is the name that is constantly comming up as a named threat - The two strongest leagues in britain at the moment IMO. However looking around - the nuts seems to be strong in Scotland and Wales where as in England Redtooth is all over us like a rash.

I think the DTD lure is too much for us to compete with expessially when my boss refuses to use DTD for travelling purposes of most players.

i was looking at it but it stated players had to have made the last national final - therefore i dont meet the rules - only one person in my region made it and he couldnt make the nationals therefore his application was turned down.

the biggest problem i have here is i have a new region - a league called JSV was previously in the area and managed to annoy alot of people and landlords which has made my job 99% harder - landlords just dont trust poker companies - we average 15 players per venue for 4 venues and anywhere between 4 and 10 for the other 2 that i currently have. Slowly getting some landlords opinions better so hoping to have 7 pubs of 10 players per week or better with a further 4 supplier venues as i call them lol.

I met Steve for the first time at the last regional and had the honour of sitting on his table in the casino game after my sick (TJ on TJJ flop) exit from the main event. Was a very tricky opponent to play against.
