Very Fresh to Poker

edited January 2011 in The Sky Poker Tour

Only turned 18 in March and used a freeroll poker game on a certain social networking site.
Played a few games and came to the conclusion that I wasnt too bad. Money was tight as I am not in employment and enrolled on a full time course at a local college.

Saved money for a few months, was flicking through the tv and came across Sky Poker TV. It Looked really good and was very impressed with the layout of the tables and tournament, and
it had fantastic presenters at the first time of viewing.

So in the last month or so, I decided to join Sky Poker, firstly deposting a few x£10 and lost all in various tournaments.

I have only ever played 2 or 3 games with friends for money but have played loads of fun games without anything at stake. I have taken a soft spot for DYM tournaments and have had a 50% return on my investments in the last few days.

Im wondering whether anyone can give me any advice on how I can get involved in live tournaments, whether they are Sky Poker tour games or games in local leagues. I live 20 miles from Newcastle and majorly dissapointed that Ive missed out on the upcoming tournament, but willing to travel down south for future tournaments. Any details of how you can qualify to these events would be massively appreciated.

Many Thanks
Jonathan

Hi Jonathan.  Turn up on the 8th and you will get the opportunity to play Sit 'n' Goes outside the main event.  You will also get the opprtunity to talk to many other players who will be able to point you in the right direction.

Thanks for that Dollie, I will pop along and hopefully meet a few members of the team and other players
Any ideas of times and buy-ins for the Sit N Go's?

    Hi Jonathon,

They normally run when the main event has lost a few players and can be £5,£10,£20 or £50, it decided before the game.
As for playing live, try going to your local casino and see if they have beginner tournaments or cheaper buy-ins. alternatively, you could find out if there are any pub leagues in your area.

    Hi mate, try   www.newcastlepoker.com
this will give you all the info you need for the local poker scene.
All three (Aspers, Circus, and The G ) casino games & buy-ins schedules and even the local pub/club games and leagues.

    This will definitely help.
