Weak tight much?

edited January 2011 in The Poker Clinic
First hand I've played on this table.  TBH I didn't like going to the flop against that amount of players.  Maybe I'm giving the villain too much credit but I just think that for me to bet the flop against that many players looks  and I think he needs at least a Jack to call me.  He could have a set.  Is it too weak tight to take the line I did on the turn.  He bet the turn quite quickly which at the time made me think that he was a bit too keen.

Next time you should post this in the poker clinic.

I would bet more on the flop because of the potential straight and flush draws. I personally would bet about 3/4 pot.
On the turn there is a good chance that one of the players had a jack. However, he could still have a straight draw, a flush draw, a weaker pair, an overpair or a compeltely random hand.
I bet the turn, maybe about 2/3 pot. Readless, if he raises I fold and give him credit for the jack. It's unlikely he will be doing this with a straight draw or flush draw as he might be drawing dead and he would have probably done it on the flop. Same with an overpair. If he wants to make a random bluff then he is more likely to do it on the flop.

By check folding you allow him to bet his draw/hand and get you off a better hand.

Ship it and let him stack off with his 77-99/flush draw.
