did i play this hand hand correctly

this hand is from the final table of tonights totty (3 handed), the villain was a solid player but earlier he had bluffed tikay out of a big pot with nothing, i had him easily covered and i knew i was prob behind but by the turn i thought i had enough outs to make the raise. so, should i have just flat called the turn or folded?? or was i right to play the hand the way i did? all advice appreciated as this hand was a big turning point that ended up with me finishing 3rd

Fold or raise pre flop. 

Looking at the stacks it's just a fold, unless he's been playing tight and letting people run over his big blind.

Once you call pre, I wouldn't be leading that flop - what sort of cards is he likely to have if he checks behind a limp in the big blind? - prob hands that contain 3's 4's and 5's - junk basically, and he aint folding a pair.

I'd just check and fold the flop.

Once you get to the turn, you can confidently stack off.

cheers dohhhhhh, looking back i agree i should have just folded pre and saved a lot of chips, my flop play was poor and the turn just made matters worse for me!

Snap fold preflop, even check the box before it gets to you incase you get a little frisky.

Basically what you have done is waste your chips, by playing so passively. You must forget any thoughts of how the other player played before, when 3 handed, and if you want to play these hands out of position, ALWAYS come in with a raise, but not just min.
IMO just fold this hand and then your on the button.
One other thing, look at their stack size. When they raise you to 15k, that represents just more than 25% of their stack, they aint going away at that point. Then on the turn your raise was always getting called.
The lesson is, in this instance, just fold.

cheers for your input, i know my biggest mistake was not folding pre and my play on the flop wasn't great, however my raise on the turn wasn't to induce a fold it was because i figured i had enough outs to try and bust him, or was that just butchering the hand even more?

With only 18BB left to play with x's flop re-raise makes it crystal clear that he holds a hand that he's happy to go to get all his chips in the middle with. Unless he's absolutely terrible there's no way he's going to be folding on any street after making that bet. At this stage you're still on a draw, you have no showdown value whatsoever, by calling you're gambling as an underdog. I agree with previous replies that you should only be folding or raising pre-flop. You should tighten up pre-flop against an 18BB stack because it's the perfect size for shoving back over a raise. I fold pre-flop here.

It's easy to get a rush of blood to your head in a situation like this, particularly when you have your opponent covered, I've made many similar mistakes myself. In such crucial spots I'm trying to stop myself making snap decisions and make the most of the time bar to think my decision through before I click.
