OK guys, one thing im curious of. People talk about floating all the time and i read about it too. However when is a good time to float?

i find when in a swimming pool or in the sea is good!! good question really would like to see some answers.

i normally float the flop ,if i think my opponents on a big ace ,and hes hit the flop ,,,if the flop looks str8ing ,or flushing ,i will float it and hope a scare card comes on the turn ,and then put him to the test ,with a pot size raise ,and then just hope he dont call ,normally works best against a nit,but there are a lot of non-believers on the site ,,,also i find that it works at its best ,when u put ur opponent too an allin or fold decision  ,stack sizes ,floating early in an mtt at 15/30 again i find they normally call u down ,

this is player dependant
do they c bet to much?
is the flop likely to hit their range?
do they check fold turn?
do they barrel?
will they check call turn?
do you have any kind of draw/outs?
do you float alot?
are they just raising pre because they know your a serial floater and they want to exploit you ?

I wouldnt do it at NL4 either mate. But want to be able to understand this game better.

I use a float to great every day, it's often the best way to get the job done.

dont use floats, we want the hook to be able to get to the bigger fish

The simple answer is: When your confident enough in your post flop game.  If you have a good feel for your opponents range and betting pattern then floating is a great tool.
