FT Bubble in MTT....

edited January 2011 in The Poker Clinic

Ok....its the FT bubble in the Ed's mid league. I am the short stack and have been TOTALLY card dead for about the last 10 hands or so..4/2...5/3...7/3....etc etc...no ace or even picture card so I am looking for a spot to get them in. The table has been quite passive with some min rasing blind stealing but no real confrontations....then I get dealt this hand and my 1st thoughts are I am defo shoving here. There is a raise than shove so I think the original raiser is not folding so I tank using all my time, then let go thinking I must be behind.

Discuss please before I show the hand in full.

Think im folding here, the orignal riaser has called the all in.if you shove and he calls, which i think he has to,would be no suprise that your behind.you cant call,as it depletes your stack and if you miss, and he bets uve just thrown away your chips.

so its a shove or fold.
do you want to be 3 handed when your tourny life is at stake with ace 10

    have to fold

You're not the short stack, Cormach is. Anyway, it's a marginal decision but I fold here too. ATo is good enough to open shove with in position, but not good enough to get it in given the action before your turn to act, you'll probably be in bad shape in a 3 way pot. Pass this time, you'll still have 14 bigs to play with and plenty of fold equity. If this table is passsive I'd rather open shove from the button with any 2 cards than get them in in this spot.

I'm not sure where u get 14xbb from Gary????

    300/600 and MA has 5k.....

Either way, I'm sure it's +ev to fold here if it's on the bubble - you are 100% sure JPDERRY is gonna snap off the shove, and then you can cash......

When JP opens that big, (3x) it's really bad whatever he has, but it's more likely to be ahead of AT than behind.......

I think it's a good fold given the bubble dynamic.

Also - you say the table has been really passive - you could/should be jammin any 2 cards from the button/sb if the pot is unraised.

I think you have to fold here

Im folding here and waiting for a better spot, much sooner shove with AT than call.

Well its defo a fold for me i would much rather shove with any two cards than make a call with A 10 here

Cheers for the replies. I did fold but I am still not 100 % sure it was the right action. I eventually went out with KQ v K2 aipf.....2 was 1st card out on the flop, obv.
This is the outcome to the hand....as you can see I would of gone in with the worst hand but come out with the best result! If only Sky did H4H and a time bank :))
Doh - I had already cashed. This was the FT bubble, not the cash bubble. Would this change your thinking?

    * EDIT - I will post hand up later, at work at the moment and chrome is rubbish when posting hands!
