How/why did you let yourself get "so" short...?
  • edited January 2011
Poor cards in good spots and rubbish flops when i did myself in to a few hands
  • edited January 2011

Yeh problem is, people don't like folding.

So when you get so short, and it's not costing them much to see a flop - they will keep calling, coz your stack cant hurt them.

It's a better idea to shove with TJ suited on the button, for 11 big blinds than it is to wait for QQ and shove 4 big blinds......

You've got to try and stay ahead of the game, stealing blinds, then hoping you hold when you get your big hand confrontations, or coin flips, you get abit of luck to go really deep.

The only way you should ever end up this short stacked is if the previous couple of hands you lost a big all in.

I dont like the title of your thread it made me feel paraniod! :)

i did lose a couple of hefty hands i bit before that, but jt on the button would have been nice - with hands like 5,2 8,3 ect ect its hard to get any momentum going, as for stealing the blinds this dohnut was calling with any 2 and hitting 90% of the time. i think i was the 3rd person he knocked out with trash hands

sorry donut64 no offence to you, but this guy was a real dohnut, plus it was the 1st word that came to mind instead of something that was not printable

Thats ok! But what you have got to remember us Donuts are really sweet even if we tend to be a little jammy sometimes! :)
  • edited January 2011
When you have only 2.5BB and shove you're getting called by any 2 cards.

Only one thing worse than jammy dohnuts on this site.......

Bury fans posting on here :))))))

To Jimbob - like others have said, it is just a cooler and given the chip stacks, an auto play. Reverse the situation and ask what you would do and I guess you would call as well. The moral of the story is to build a monster stack up and then you can have the luxury of wiping out the small stacks with any two!!

    Good luck at the tables.

Maybe thats a flaw in my game because im not wasting 10% to 20% of my stack against an all holding 7 4 off.

if i had two connectors or any akq in my hand then yes its a simple call but with 7 4 off he is only a 14% dog to win the hand

This might be Area 51, but DOHHHHHHH is giving you valuable strategy advice here.

    The proof is in the pudding. The hand below was played out in the last half an hour close to the bubble of a micro stakes (£1+10p MTT), I think there were 12 remaining with 10 to be paid. If folded to me I would have shoved any 2 cards in this spot. Pay attention to my hole cards, the stack sizes of those involved, and everybodys final finishing positions;

so shoving with 6bb with j10 is better than 4 bb with qq?

  • edited January 2011
Yep, the more bb the greater chance your opponent will fold out hands

the suggested amount you should be shoving so you dont lose f/e 15-10bb's

reason is say you get QQ you double up your still in danger zone, also if called although likely ahead more chance someone will call you with Ax or Kx, hence why better to be shoving J10 with more big blinds as you will get more hands to be folded out even just take the blinds. if called your not in worst shape unless unlucky and someone wakes up with Aces but then your still not drawing dead

Jim shoved his QQ with 2.6BB. Yes, shoving JT with 6BB is better than shoving QQ with 2.6BB.

Everyone keeps banging on about shoving with jt on the button. The fact is i never had jt on the button with 10 big blinds left, so are you shoving on the button with say 53off or 82 off because these were the sort of hands i was getting ( bearing in mind that the dohnut in question would have been in the big blind position wien i was on the button and he made the stupid call with dross twice before against not so short stacks and came out very lucky on both occasions).

Yes, they folded, I could have had 53o as far as they knew, in fact I would have shoved 53o with 6BB on the button, if called you have good equity against anything except an overpair. This is a +ev shove with any 2 cards.
