Value bet river?

edited January 2011 in The Poker Clinic
I'm putting him on AQ, QJ, Q9, maybe Q8, and missed heart draws.  Just got moved to this table so no specific reads.  I'm thinking that if he has A6 or Q 10 he prob raises the turn.  Value bet river about 700?

I dunno, At this blind level i would most prob check behind with showdown, built a nice pot already.

I guess theres room for a slim value bet, but check seems fine, im looking forward to better replys to this, as this is a spot i may be losing value on.

Once he checks the river it's an easy value bet for me, especially given the stack sizes, it's likely you're ahead, and there's lots of hands that can call, if he c/raises it's an easy fold, and you still have millions of big blinds to recover.

It's not going to damage your chances of going deep too much if you lose 600ish here.

    He had QT? :(

I dont think you can discount A6, i'd call turn with that but i wouldn't check

I check, looks like busted flush draw to me, but i doubt he's paying you any more and we have good showdown value. i think your only getting called by better so check

he raised pre flop so i would guess he has low-mid pair or ace 8 above or two paint cards,10 j suited cards  once the flop come down he was gonna cbet it anyway once you checked, he may of hit the 10 on the turn, but once your checking each street and hes betting out and your calling hes bet,and to be honest the bets arent going to hurt your stack, so on the river you could  put a value bet in or a blocker bet of around 550-650,but i would probaly check here and if he bets between 500-700 then i would call any more then maybe you could fold and find a better spot ,this is quite a difficult spot to be in as you dont know how this player has been betting.

call, chk call, chk call, chk, almost certain that you are ahead, otherwise why would he chk the river, after chk calling twice he must know, that u are going to slow down.so why no value bet by him on the river.even so still a tricky spot.i would also chk,if u go for a value bet,and you get raised what do you do?at times u have to be happy with your lot.chk take notes and move on.

Here's what happened.  I went for the extra value and planeed to fold to a raise, but then he click-raises me and I'm getting over 4.64 to 1.  Do you call?

    Ugh man so sick......

    I would bet abit smaller......

If he's bluffing here he's either a genius or a total plonker, 99.9% of the time its the latter......

    He's got you beat, fold.

I think by betting smaller on the river you get a call from a wider range of hands, and if you get raised you save some money.
