Poker Outs
An Out is defined as a card in the deck that help you make your hand. So if you hold A5 of spades and have two spades on the flop, that leaves 9 more spades in the deck, since there are 13 cards of each suit. This means you have 9 outs to complete your hand.
Your Hand The Flop
Why are the two remaining 5's and three remaining A's also not counted as 'outs' Should the number of outs not be 14?

Agree - I normally work out 'outs' as cards that will give me the nuts vs the villians range or likely holding.
Unlikely a single 5 will give you the best hand and even the Ace would leave serious doubts you were outkicked?
