sets over sets too often. This is why im leaving sky poker

edited February 2011 in Area 51
Sitting at the same table for both hands, both times i had a set of 5s. I got beat by a set of aces, all the money went in on the flop fair enough. So spent the next hour building up my money then....... I got beat by a set of kings which hit on the river, all the money went in on the flop.
I dont mind a set beating a set but to happen twice to u on the same table. enough is enough.

so aces beat 5s,and kings beat 5s...

hardly a statistical anomaly is it?

Set over set + set over set

You've been on here to long if you think that's normal.

ok,but how many hands are we talking here?

i dont see set over set everyday, but it has to happen to someone...

ok suppose u hit a set of 5 s on the flop

aa is still 10% to hit by the river..

    thats 1 in 10...

so for every set, there is a 10% chance someone will hit a higher set...

if they have a poket pair in their hand..

and it does happen live too

Quoting maths and youtube extracts is pathetic. You can show an example of anything if you look hard enough. Frequency is the point and it's just too frequent. Action hands like this are on every table - just look at any table on the site and you will see them again and again.

I know you've played this game a long time, but have you forgotten what poker should be like? Sounds to me like you've been conditioned by over exposure DJ. Anything can and will happen in poker but that doesn't mean we should be seeing it in every game.

Well ,its hardly every game is it?

i think if you are looking for it, you will find it,like when you buy a red card and every car you see is a red car...

I quite enjoyed Phil Ivey's public comment on it.

He said you should never fold a set fearing your opponent has a higher set on a dry board.  The odds are low enough to make the fold ridiculous in the long term profit and loss scheme of things.

However, you do seem to have to keep oversets and quads firmly in your mind while playing here.

Hows about F/H over F/H over F/H, level one in a ten seater on here?

Another one for DJ and Doh to chew over.....

A winning player on here (we shall just call him 'the golden one') keeps getting it in bad and binking cards on turn or river when behind. Are some of the regs on here now getting wise to the 'expected' boards now on Sky Poker??

Holding my nerve has never been a problem. Reading an opponent is something I've been doing for a while now. Being continually outdrawn and having the dominant hand beaten time after time as happens on Sky is something I can't get used to.

Most competent players can make good calls and hold their nerve. Believe it or not even I did it a number of times last night.........

Haha nice thread, all i wanna know is WHY does the piggin board keep on flopping '3 of the sme suit' ON THE FLOP? What are the rough odds of this?

I have to admit that in 5 yrs of playing poker on pretty much every site out there i have had the most crazy outdraws on here in the last 2 months. Hands where the opponent needed miricle, miricle to win and the money going in when i'm 95% fav to win. I lost 2 out of 2 on the same day. unreal and i mean unreal.

yes, bad beats happen, 30% shots get there now and again, miricles do not get there twice in a session. well i take that back, they do on here

    This is the point.

    Yes they do happen, everywhere.

On here they are just too frequent.
