and i guess we all enjoy films too ?,

So as poker players,

what are the greatest poker/gambling films ?

Try "A Big Hand for the Little Lady" released in the UK as "Big Deal at Dodge City"

Classic poker related Henry Fonda comedy western.

I maintain the funniest poker scene is in The Sting.  Exceptional film also.

If we're talking Gambling then The Hustler is one of my favourite films of all time.  Very short poker scene in it, more about pool, billiards and the horses.  Truly great film.

Also The Cooler staring William H Macy is a charming gambling film.

Slight diversion into TV: The first few episodes of the series DEADWOOD features the death of Wild Bill Hickcock.

The rest of the series ain't half bad either.

Teddy KGB has got to be the best poker film character ever. The Oreos was a massive tell though, right? The soul read of Matt Damon folding top two pair is vintage, too....

Fancy getting owned at poker by Matt Damon...

On the subject of classic poker scenes, the Area 51 candidate at the end of the poker game in Casino Royale is possibly my favourite.

A couple of things to pull them up on though....

1) On the turn the pot is at $24m. The short stack in seat 2 has $5m left. Shouldn't he have got his money in a bit quicker with a set? That and he's out of position against the villain and hero of the movie, so he can't think his eights full are going to be good here? Sorting out side pots doesn't make good film - fact.

2) When Le Chiffre raises, Bond shoves and Le Chiffre calls, I think they really ought to have opened their hands up a bit quicker. Massive slowroll by Bond, imo.

3) Mind you, Le Chiffre did deserve it for his own annoying slowroll. Yes, you have the Ace of spades. Now just show us the boat already because otherwise you would have mucked....

4) Sadly the clip misses the best part out, which is when Bond tips the dealer a 'cool mill'. Not sure how the Government would have felt about that, and tbh he should tip a bit more considering the pot was over $114m, right?
