While Tikay is out of the office we've managed to catch up with some of the ICC World Cup. During an ad break this clip was played which reminded me just how much I enjoyed England winning the Ashes.

Jim Laker, in "Lakers Test".

In the 1956 series against Australia, at Old Trafford, Jim took NINETEEN wickets!

In 46 tests, his bowling average was 21.

Proper bowla. Warney, eat your heart out.

For bowling, batting, fielding, and being a competitor, Freddie is also the nuts. I remember watching this over live, a tiny part of what was, and probably always will be, the best sporting series ever played....

Certainly the 1981 Ashes Series had many highlights including THAT test match at Headingley which was simply awesome. Allan Donald's stupid run out in the 1999 World Cup that cost South Africa a place in the final against Australia at Edgbaston but for me one of the greatest cricket memories is without doubt the greatest ever domestic one-day semi final that happened in 1996 at Old Trafford mainly because Lancashire won and Yorkshire lost!
