Roulette machines

edited February 2011 in Betting Chat
Do you go on them in the bookmakers?

Ive been on these a few times the odd tenner and showed a nice profit :).But i have seen people put hundreds and even thousands in these machines and lose the lot.

If you go on these how much do you invest and have you ever won?

If thats correct they work on a 75% return ratio which means if you play them longterm you will only get 3/4 of the money you put in

they are a bigger bump then fruit machines ive seen a guy blow 4k then stick in another 2k to get it up to 4k then lose it all again ive blown my fair share in there over time but no where near as much as some people who play roulette like a religion guess some people aint happy when they get paid.

But they are definitely not random at all you can go into the bookies see what the last number was and know roughly what numbers are coming next its usually for example if 9 just come the next number is either 9 again, 19,29,18, the number dead opposite 9 then 6 to the left of 9 and 6 to the right and 9 out of 10 times it will come in 1/10 times it comes random

Done it myself a few times - Also done it on sky vegas -

Started off playing poker for small amounts and had a bad bt or 2 and thought I,ll just nip on roulette and get some money back quickly by doing the martingale system (betting on red or black , then doubling up if you lose and so on until it comes in)

Its not nice going into work the nxt morning w/o any sleep after blowing your whole months wages - And yes i did have a problem at the time - its ruined relationships in the past for me and can ruin your life if you let it

The machines in the bookies are random. There is a centre somewhere which generates a number every second and when you press that spin button the number has already been chosen. you can try this by playing 2 togethor and pressing the start button at exactly the same time and it will bring in the same number.

I relapsed about 3 months back and blew 1300 in one - This was the first time i had played them in about 18 months.

Its also why I now stick predominatly with Sky Poker since they brought in the self exclude button just for Vegas. On every other site your only a click away from blackjack, roulette or slots

For most ppl roulette, blackjack, slots etc are a recreational activity which they can have a bit of a flutter on w/o  spending past their means, but due to my previous addiction the only gambling i do now is Poker and a bit of sports betting for fun

The only reason I am posting this and telling of my experiences is to warn others of the dangers of how addictive these games can be. One of the worst things you can do is win a few quid on these on your first go and begin to think they are a way of making money  - Trust me - They are not  - I see them as evil

Even now when I,m picking up my football coupons i see ppl sticking hundreds and thousands in sometimes and just think myself lucky that i got out of this when i did

Its also probably why I am such a BR nit now and can enjoy my poker and can afford to lose w/o losing sleep over it

To sum up - Best just stay away from them altogethor

This happened with someone i worked with years ago only it was his weekly pay which was gone in 15 minutes. The crafty bugger went back and told the bosses he lost his paypacket on the way to the shop. The bosses then had a whip round with all the staff chipping in and he got the full amount back from them. I never stuck him in for it, i just didn't contribute anything which raised some eyebrows. I wouldn't have got a share if he had won so there was no chance i was covering his losses.

I'd suggest avoiding these machines like the plague.

having worked in the betting shop industry for last 26 years, can i just assure everyone that roulette machines in the shops work at exactly the same percentage as a spin in the casino: 1 poss outcome from 37! therefore its 2.72%

bookies and casinos happy to make that percentage on volume of turnover
