Started off by trying to steal the blinds and ended up in a bit of a spot. Despite making trips I felt sure, the way this guy played the hand he was drawing to the straight or making out that he was drawing when he already had it. When he jams the river after the 7 comes I'm sure if he didn't already have the straight, he has it now so I fold.

    Correct decision?

Don't min-raise pre out of position with Q9 suited.

    Make it 3x or fold.

Bet flop. You've hit top pair!

    Bet turn. You've hit trips!

Why wait till there is a one card straight on the board to make a bet?

You played this hand bad tbf :

    1. Should of raised more pre, doubling the blind achieves nothing if trying to steel his BB

    2. You hit a very good flop for your hand, should be betting 3/4 pot on the flop, why the check ??

    3. When you hit trips on the turn you should be betting out at least 2/3 of the pot.

If you had played it this way the hand would of been over way before the river, hence no decision !!

Ps As played deffo fold river :)

PPs Clio beat me too it, God damn !!

If your just trying to steal the blinds then you need to be raising bigger, he's gonna call you really wide for so little. You should then be leading alot of flops but especially this one, it's one of the better flops for your hand obviously and you need to protect by betting, you cant be worried that he's flopped a straight yet because it's very unlikely and you'd have to put him on 67 specifically which means your narrowing down his range far to much..and by not betting you never find out how strong he is.

As played, fold, he's hardly ever bluff shoving here.

The reason you are asking this question now is because you didnt ask it during the hand ! What were you looking to acheive by checking the flop ? You should have been fairly confident that you were ahead with few hands to fear. Your good preflop bet gave you a perfect opportunity to follow up with a strong bet on that flop, and apart from building the pot would have given you information. If he had flopped the straight he would more than likely reraised to protect his hand on a dangerous board, similarly if he had A9.

If he had the gutshot he would  have possibly called. The 9 on the turn was perfect for you, and having built the pot, you would have then been in a position to shove with little to worry about. Even in the worst scenario of him slowplaying a flopped straight, you still had loads of outs for a house. He couldnt have called with a gutshot with only the river to come.

Your play looked weak throughout, checking two streets, and even a potsized bet on the river was unconvincing. He could easily have shoved with nothing, but by then you couldnt call.

    Pretty poor play IMO

dont mind the call pre to be far but if you are going to play that bigger range then you got to play it strong, post flop, turn  is where you have to get the chips in.  phil

    pre is fine.

folding is bad. Q9red BvB is massive :)

min raise or 3x is ok.

bet flop.  bet turn.  as plaued fold river.
