THE ALL-ROUNDERS' LEAGUE - WEEK 5

edited March 2011 in Poker Chat
It's the penultimate week of the ARL...and it's a good one...

Monday 7th March
19:30  £10+£1  No Limit Hold'em Deepstack
(5,000 chips / 15 min blinds)

It's rare to find a tournament with a structure like this for just 11 quid.  It's definitely worth playing, even if you're not a regular ARL participant.  You can register HERE.

For those of you actually competing in the league, make sure you check out the latest RANKINGS and use the information to your advantage!

Remember - this is the last NLHE event, so strategy is key.  For example, who'll be looking for a solid placing in the tournament.  Will they be playing tight, hoping to fold their way into the top 20?  Can you exploit that?  And what about the guys and girls who need a win to become an ARL contender?  Will they be "going for it" and gambling it up?  Should you avoid tangling with them?

It should be an interesting night...

A reminder that I'll be playing PLO cash tonight between 7pm and midnight (ARL Deepstack hours excluded).

Will start off at the 5p/10p tables, before moving up to 10p/20p.

I'll give credit where credit's due, James...

Tikay and Richard Milner (Head of Marketing) came up with the original concept.  I then developed the format and designed the final tournament schedule with the help of Sky_Adam.

As promised, I'm playing some Omaha cash...

    Bromley - 5p/10p PLO.

We now have more than 50 runners in tonight's ARL event.

    Registration closes in 10 minutes!

67 players in the ARL tournament.

With a Deepstack structure, this could take a while...

Good luck, everyone!  See you at the final table at 3am!!!

    Maybe I spoke too soon...

Someone managed to do their entire stack of 5,000 chips in the very first hand!

  • edited March 2011
hmm yes there are a few people who seem to have a problem adapting to having quite so many chips.

Sometimes it's a matter of interpretation, but one clear cut case I've seen on my starting table - an open shove of over 40 big blinds with KTos.

For all I know that player usually shoves that level with that kind of hand - but I suspect not

Was on the same table as the out first hand hand.  It was KK vQQ.  Not saying it's not get-off-able but at the very least it's tricky.
  • edited March 2011
QQ's and above first hand then I'd agree - and similarly people can have massive hands outdrawn, so I'd expect there to be a handful of early casualties even in a deepstack but some play has been 'quite' odd

    We're at the first break...

    54 players remain.  I'm 25th on the leaderboard - with a stack of 5,825 (73 bbs).

Really unhappy with the way I played several key hands during the last level.

As a result, I'm now pretty short.

We're at the second break.  I'll be coming back 28th of 31 players with just under 4,400 in chips (15 bbs).

    Out in 25th...

That improves my overall score by a pretty insignificant three points :(

Meanwhile, tempusfuge is still going strong.  He's 4th in chips right now and stands an excellent chance of securing the ARL title in the penultimate week of the league!

  • edited March 2011
So, time now for more PLO cash.

    I'm at Purfleet - it's a 10p/20p table.

Well done to the eight players who cashed in tonight's No Limit Hold'em Deepstack...

    A nice win for MerlinUK.

But, with his third final table finish, it's tempusfuge who takes a commanding lead in the ARL RANKINGS.  But, SoLack, Direwolf or angie55 could still topple him with a strong performance in the sixth and final event.

Yes, it all comes down to the last week - the Omaha Hi-Lo tournament.

I'll see you next Monday for that.

And I'll see those of you playing at the SPT event in Luton on Saturday!
