MTT early doors, sizing on the turn.....

edited April 2011 in The Poker Clinic

Am I looking to just bet enough to effectively pot commit him on any river card?

Or should I just be shoving myself?

V unsure here. Does it even really matter?

Ignore the result if you can, I copied it wrong. -  I go broke either way, coz he doesn't fold, but just looking for re-assurance for future spots.

5x raising is way too big otb with effective stack sizes imo

as played I'd prob bet a bit bigger on the flop to make a turn shove more comfortable

dont really like the opening bet either.  I make it 80, expecting the multi call.  Pot just becomes too big too fast.

But the way you play it I just jam the turn, QK is definately in his range or Jxh

My open is only 4x+1 for the limper.....

4x has been my standard in this tourny for the first 2 levels, moving to 3x @ 25/50......

    Is it really that bad?

If I make it 80 at 15/30 after 1 limper I might as well just limp myself....

    I'd make it like 105-120.

Generally I don't think you should be opening more than 3x from the button however deep you are, unless the blinds are super fishy.

I agree. If there is going to be a multi call then you may as well limp yourself and see the flop cheaply. I dont think it is too bad at all. One of the analysts on 865 (Julian Thew i think ??) said something similar about early level raising the other week. Make them bigger for them to be more effective early on.
