Shootout Tournament

Basically an MTT played as a series of sit n gos. That is to say, you never move table, as players are eliminated. Once each table has a single "winner", then those winners all form new 6 player sit n go tables until we reach a final table.

It may well have to work "a la" SURVIVOR whereby you play on the same night over a series of weeks - perhaps 2 levels per night.

Buy in could be at any level, or even different levels each night of the week.

moving tables when you are on the perfect table can be rather annoying and the levels of BI's from micro to high is a good idea to

I think other sites may have shootouts, but the STT meets MTT appeals to me.

I do like the concept but it may have to have a cap on the number of players as to not put off potential players who may not be able to commit to numerous weeks on the bounce. I have still voted yes (after putting a pair of my fav socks in my gob!)

Thanks, Alan - the socks suit you. To make it a decent tournament (rather than a shove-fest) the blinds need to be reasonable. I would have thought 2 levels per night (meaning dividing the field by 36) is possible, so 2 weeks of play should do it. In order to make the numbers work, there might have to be some jiggery pokery. I think restricting to 216 works (2 levels before final table) and might even make it a one evening event (we are unlikely to ever get 1296 entries).

i voted no .ive played these before and if im not mistaken ,ive been kept waiting for ages for the other tables to finish ........it was boring imo

There is that risk, Ten. However, from Sky's point of view - whilst you're waiting for all the tables to end, you're probably playing some cash and contributing to their rake.

I agree with ten, ive played a 4 player HU and ended up waiting ages for the other table to finish, with loads of players this could become a long wait, and i dont like tournaments that cross over to other days, i have a life outside poker and dont like to have to commit to other days, although i have entered the survivor series as a one off lol.

I honestly dont think shootouts would gain much interest here, unless there was a big GTD shoot out each week with sats into it, i cant see them making the necessary numbers. For a decent shootout i think you need 100+ runners!!
