Was this bad play?

Getting to the stage in the tournament where you really want to ladder up. Having the up and down straight draw and two over cards, i though if i pushed on the turn, i would have plenty of outs, and I can always get him/her to fold there hand, could i have checked the turn n waited for a free card, also i felt if i bet on the turn ( instead of going all in ), i was pot committing myself, so felt all in move was correct at the time. Could I have played the hand differently, any suggestions much appreciated.

you dont have enough chips to make him fold any decent holding on turn , so I would take the free card

Also i would sometimes jam pre, but it depends table dynamic

You DO have fold equity, so shoving the turn is exactly what i'd do because hands he could have like drawing hands lose all value with only one card to come, well played imo.

sorry, misread potsize, a shove should have some fold equity, against weaker pairs 
 
Still think I prefer checking, hes not folding Jx or better and you are ahead of all likely draws anyway.
