Seems a fairly routine answer to me, but you should be raising pre-flop
and not letting the big blind see any more cards without having to bet his hand?
Very doubtful a raise would have been called with him holding 7-9 off?
You tip toed your aces, priced him in, and got caught!

I would definatly be making it about 2k pre flop especially in a tournament for the main reason that you dont want people hitting like that. A 2k bet in this situation is enough to not give the BB odds to call as it is nearly half their stack. Also after seeing the hands you would have had the Jacks re-pop all in which in turn would make it heads up and you a heavy favourite.

After what i have seen over many years of playing poker i would never in any situation flat call with Jacks or higher, all you do by doing that is getting yourself into trouble by letting more people into the hand, and then not knowing what people have after the flop

you should raise pre, but not to make hands like 79 fold

Flop spot sucks, you have to call given odds, but heavy action in a limped pot usually means big hands

2K would be a bad raise! Do a min raise or 2.3X, you have the best possible starting hand and most of the time with 1 or 2 opponents you will win the hand, why would you want raise to 2K and not get any action? Admittedly I wouldn't be limping pre, but you want the other players to be making mistakes, let them think theyre priced in with K9, hit the K and stack off, easy.

This is what happens when both AA and JJ limp in. Happy days for Mr/Mrs 97 as they get to see a free flop and hit top 2.

A raise of between 1.2k and 1.5k would see Mr/Mrs 97 fold and you're heads up with Mr/Mrs JJ and you win the hand.

lol in general obv you want them to play 97 when you have AA, but the problem is limping in with AA and find you're 3, 4 or 5 way and your AA shrinks and is less of a favourite. This is what i meant.

You HAVE to raise pre flop with AA. You have let them have free cards which has come back and bitten you. Even a min raise would be good enough with the blinds at this level to win the hand. You dont want AA going 3 or 4 handed, it lessens the chance of winning the pot.

Raise pre, isolate and win chips. Dont limp with big hands!!
