Let AA/KK get away from my set?

edited May 2011 in The Poker Clinic
Hit my set... great... but did i let beaneh get away too easily with my shove? Thought xxx had a flush draw, but could i of called with position, turn comes a blank, let beaneh fire again and then shove? Was happy taking it down there and then like

beaneh is never bet/folding an overpair here unless he misclicks

I think u did well to get paid here as the J9 call seems a wee bit loose with no draw and a weak J IMO

haha, suppose if the turn was an ace or king or diamond the queens aren't gunna be giving too much more action anyway so was okay to get the money in here

When it comes to you the pot is £25 and you have £29 behind, what else you gonna do ?

If the turn comes a blank beaneh may fire again, grenfish calls with his top pair i shove, both are pot stuck and therefore i get a treble up and not a double up

I prob flat flop, but its villain dependent

i beg to differ. The turn is a A which means easy for for Beaneh and even easier for the J9 me thinks.

I like shove really, pretty sick fold by beaneh

FWIW its irrespective of what comes on turn/river pretty simple shove with stacksizes, maybe flat if fruity but just giving chance for them to catch up

yea, like the shove- looks nice and drawy there, could easily be sat with something like Ax diamonds, very possibly AJ diamonds, doesn't necessarily have to be a set at all. I think slowplaying sets is very risky- if a diamond comes on turn, not only are you risking being behind now, you're also risking being outplayed when he reads you for not being on the draw and jams.

Jam it in and let him make the mistake- let him call with a weak pair/draw, or fold them out and take the pot down there. I don't think you're getting much more out of Beaneh anyway when he leads that strong and gets 2 callers- QQ suddenly shrinks up a lot, especially with an A on the turn.

If I played this hand like beaneh did and posted it up I'm sure he'd lol @ me.

    Gutted he was right.
