Right or wrong to shove near the bubble??

edited May 2011 in The Poker Clinic
It was the £30 scary with 35 players and 7 left and some v.low stacks  with 5th place getting nearly £7 - 1st place for £28

I didn,t expect or want the call from the big stack - I was just after the other 2

Fold, call, raise or shove?

I,m defo getting called by the 2 small stacks as they are virtually all in anyway, so i figured I wasn,t risking to much of my stack to knock one out and make FT

And looking back on it now if it had held up against the AK I,d have been a big chip leader and you,ve gotta go for the win, with tourneys being so top heavy , so although I got knocked out i,d do it again

In this situation, you are not likely to find a better spot to shove. In general committing chips near the bubble is good play if you have plenty of chips, but specifically noting the play of the rest of the table. Is every other hand a walk? Are people letting the timers go to zero? In these cases, you can shove for someone else's tournament, and will only get called by a monster (or a fool). After the bubble, it is good to tighten for 10 minutes as about 15 short-stacks will be shoving!
