just a cooler or could i have avoided it.

edited May 2011 in The Poker Clinic
Very cally table as a result i felt i could get value by raising a pretty hand. Ive not played many hands. overplayed A9 a few rounds prior.

However this hand, it is a cooler admitedly but can i avoid it early stages?

Also just to state the check on the turn was because the pot was big enough to get it in on the river, and to show a little weakness.

I dont like the raise pre if im honest, better to raise but utg on a cally table just tighten up only really play it with strong hands, on turn your always going broke tho

FWIW i'd bet more on flop if table alot of callers, usually u can get through players if they miss but if they start calling or re-raising you post flop then the alarms will be ringing

    Definitely bet the turn.

Doesn't have to be big, half pot is fine to shove the river, and get value from more hands.

dont think it can be avoided to be honest. think you played it well.

the raise pre in early position is fine imo with it only being 6 handed.

runthings flop call and check behind on turn looks like a draw to me...9J/97 type hands, or even 8x.

when the river bricks and he bets your only option is to get it in and id be fist pumping before i click all in. just unlucky you ran into a full house.

Totally unavoidable especially in tourney, reads are pretty limited. You did notice it was a cally table therefore PFR has to be 180. However, the 22's still call you and it's all in and over before you know it. UL

I think if you say its a "cally" table, i dont really understande the raise pre.  Why inflate the pot?  Streets of betting are more managable without the raise, but because of the extra juice pot tends to get out of hand.  Plus what happens if you get 3bet and calls multi way?

Much prefer the limp behind, being prepared to call a small raise.  Just gives you more control overall.

But this aside yeah, cooler, def bet turn though.

fold pre on a loose table

    bet flop bigger

    rest is fine imo

I'd limp along pre hope to get a nice flop with a good drawing hand, if you want to raise which I wouldn't advise it needs to be 120-160 to have any effect.

Flop bet more than half close to 75-80%

Turn bet 75-80% again or just shove as by now you/he should have a pot bet left then win moniez when he doesn't have a house.
