WSOPE Day 1b

edited September 2009 in Poker Chat
I'm working in Leicester Square this afternoon, so just popped across to the Empire Casino to say hello to Richard, Tikay and the rest of the 'In Poker' crew.  I was only there for 20 minutes, but was able to make the following observations...

* The atmosphere inside the casino is really strange.  It doesn't feel like a major tournament's taking place, because the tables are spread out in little pockets of the casino, over several floors.

* Annette Obrestad and Daniel Negreanu are at the feature table.  Daniel appears to have covered his bald spot using his can of spray-on hair.  I'm not joking.

* Former Sky Poker presenter Kara Scott is hosting the TV coverage for ESPN.

* Tikay's wearing sunglasses indoors.  A tad pretentious...

    I don't think there's a live stream, Dave.

I just saw Rich and Tikay shooting a link in Leicester Square.

Tikay has now taken off his shades (because he's outside in bright sunshine), but has a nasty gravy stain on his shirt - and ice cream in his eyebrows.

Rich narrowly avoided being dumped on by a pigeon.  It was a matter of inches, I tell you...inches!

    James,

I was also in the Empire for a good chunk of yesterday afternoon and the atmosphere did pick up a little later. The London crowd have never really gone crazy for it though - the final table last year had about 50 people come, which is bizarre considering the standing of the tournament.

Still, feature table downstairs was pretty interesting, with Ferguson joining Negreanu, Greenstein and Obrestad later on, as well as two of Britain's young talents, James Keys and Sam Trickett. Was a good day's viewing all in all I thought.
