Pointers on trips with high kicker vs full house

edited May 2011 in The Poker Clinic
Hi

I hated the call at the end, but was hoping (perhaps praying is a better word) for an ace with a lower kicker.

I think i played it pretty terribly to be honest (maybe should have folded to turn re-raise), but any comments on any of the streets would be really helpful.

Your bet sizing is pretty small for a 4 way pot. I prefer check calling when you are out of position like that. One thing your bets did allow you to do is get away from the hand. Once our boy min raises the turn he always has us beat and I think a fold is best.

The river is pretty irrelevant, if he was ahead before he prolly still is (unless he has 64, 69). You have to call once your there, but I think the turn min raise is your chance to get off the hand.

For me this is a re raise pre or fold OOP spot.  Id almost say shut down turn but there's alot of missed draws/picked up turn draws there.  Dont think you did a great deal wrong.

His shallow river jam = no fold, +min bet turn COULD be many hands, but either way value city.  Just an awful turn bet by him though

Amybr NL4 is full of EEEHAWWS. Re-raise ur just getting pushed on pre. For some reason i cant see bet sizing so i cant comment. If someone would like to run me through the right hand side of this ill comment on the hand properly.

I dont mind the flat pre btw.

Do you want the action with AJ there though?  I'd truly rather raise and be jammed on, folding to EEAWW or calling true EEAAWW to isolate hand.  Just dont want to take it 4/5 handed.

Unless it goes 3 bet, jam csll csll csll csll csll?? :p

A lot of half-pot bets going on here.

OOP definetely better to take the cautious approach and keep the pot small with top pair average kicker by check calling.

honestly whatever your bet sizing here you not getting him off his hand

don't play AJ oop especially with a lead, if your lead gets called play with caution

ace rags are king at NL4 so beware OOP

Pot BETTT!!!!!! and dont lead flop.

Defo like the cusious approch Dudeskin talking about. Although i dont think a single person in this area doesnt go broke on river.

However with the re-raise on the turn NL4 players dont re-raise worse. so im folding there (maybe to tight anyone????)
