Playing Aces Early In DYM?

edited May 2011 in The Poker Clinic
Hey guys, recently i keep getting pocket aces early in a DYM, in either the 1st or 2nd levels. obviously i wish it was later on, but not the case, how do u recommend playing them, i want to be able to get as much chips as possible but everyone seems to play really tight early on. i been raising say 3x bb but everone seems to fold. should i limp in and risk there being a flush or draw heavy board? thanks and much appreciated

dont limp, i personally will raise it more then the standard maybe 4x in early position. if someone limps add a couple of BB. Aces are quite tricky in dym as post flop you have to read your opponent well otherwise you could easily go broke, Main think is limping is terrible with aces in any form of poker and if you do you deserve to be outdrawn

obviously i wouldnt dream of limping if it was a cash game or later on. but u dont get aces very often. when i do, i want to get maximum chips, alot of ppl seem to be scared by a big raise(in terms of blind size) early on, and will more than likely give up a marginal hand such as king jack, however i was thinking if i limped and the king spiked, they might think they had best hand, which is when they go crazy thinking they winning imo.

I raise it alittle more also like young gun has suggested, dont encourage multiway action with a small raise and even worse a limp.

and when the flop comes K98 and you get checked raised on the flop after you limped pre are they Check raising with KJ or (K9, K8, 98)? Always makes me laugh when I break some fish  for 100bb who limps AA and I
    have 57o in BB

Also chip preservation is much more important than chip accumulation in these DYM. I chip gained is worth less than a chip lost. So raising and getting all folds isnt a bad thing moving forward.

i know that seeing a flop is riskier than to not. but i was trying to find ways to garnish the most amount of chips out of having the aces. both times i had them early yesterday everybody folded and i ended up getting 45 chips, which is quite frustrating lol.

Raise it up and play as you would. The problem depends on how early you get them. If you get them too early you have not read on the table dynamics. Dym's are easy enough to cash with out AA.

Better to win a small pot, clean than lose a big one dirty :p.

If you raise it up with A's and get folds its c/rap.  Worse is too limp and find yourself in no mans land.

But ultimately if your going to build the pot to the desired level you need to get the pot brewing early (pre).

I run SO bad with AA in DYM's I now fold them pre! lol  Still dread the flop tho!

Def raise 2/3 BB's and hope someone comes with you. If everyone folds.... next case move on!

    dnt lmp

    raise 4/5x

u play micro's dnt u? dnt worry, if they have kq/kj etc they will call, and then stack off when they hit, you've prob jus had a couple occasions where no1's had a hand

If you're playing good opposition, your raise in a DYM will often just get through with no action, i'm satisfied with that!
If it gets 2/3 handed so be it, just bet it as you would and if you receive substantial resistance just fold, it's no biggy.
DYM is a specialist game and most importantly of all, you have to know when to let your hand go and preserve your chips!
and @Glenelg ... are you being serious about letting your Aces go pre? lol Or am i just too tired and not getting a joke..
