Thursday's live show - with James, Trevor & Barry Carter ***OFFICIAL THREAD***

edited May 2011 in Poker Chat

Hello everybody!

The £220 Double Stack is live on channel 865 at 8pm.  The second half of the show (10pm-midnight) can also be viewed on Sky Sports 4.

I’ll be joined in the studio by Trevor Harris – plus poker journalist, author & SPT finalist Barry Carter.

Now, Barry’s been giving me a fair amount of grief on Twitter for going to see the latest ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ flick.  Granted, it was a painful experience: a complete waste of two-and-a-half-hours and possibly one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen.  So…

What’s the worst / most boring film you’ve ever sat through?  Or, have you ever “done a Trevor Harris” and walked out of a movie?

I’m sure we’ll also be talking sport (how can Trev possibly resist having a rant about FIFA?) plus we’ll be giving away copies of Barry’s book, ‘The Mental Game of Poker’.  Details of the competition will be revealed on the show.

And – as if that wasn’t enough – Barry’s happy to answer your questions about what’s going on in the world of poker.

So, get posting on the forum and start e-mailing skyopen@bskyb.com

I think one of the most disappointing movies I ever saw, apart from Pearl Harbour (The worst movie of all time ), was Artificial Intelligence.  Big SiFi Fan but that was utter rubbish

Can I just clarify something please James before the show?

If I enter this competition and win, can I trade that book for say Harrington on Holdem?

Have a good show guys :)

The best film ever is "Dumb and Dumber."  It is a masterpiece from the Farrelly brothers and brilliantly acted by Jim Carrey.

The worst film ever is "Dumber and Dumberer."  It is atrocious.  It is not from the Farrelly brothers and poorly acted by unknowns.  I walked out half way through.  I knew that I must have better things to do with my time.

PS.   For reference (I'm sure you don't need this James) the Farrely brothers made, "There's Something About Mary", "Shallow Hal", "Stuck on You", "Me, Myself and Irene" and "The Heartbreak Kid."  Many of their films contain a twist near the end where some viewers might realise that the joke has been on themselves throughout.

Now I know I have a weird 'thing' for Ray Winstone but "44 Inch Chest" was officially the worst film EVER. James I blame you, you should have warned me :)

Pretty sure i turned Titanic off after half an hour, Still dont know what happens in the end.

I hate Requiem for a Dream with a passion. Relentlessly bleak not to mention mind numbingly dull. Quite like everything Aranofsky has done since though.

I have never made it passed the first 20 minutes of Gladiator; thought From Paris With Love was uber dull; and I found Paranormal Activity to be the least scariest film ever.

NB  I advise you read this post before reading out as the film title is questionable.

The worst film I have ever seen is Donkeypunch.  From the self important pretentious script to the overblown Drama-school brat acting it is diabolical.  It's meant to be a horror/thriller so surely I shouldn't have been giggling at how bad it was all the way through it?  Only ever time I've been shushed in a cinema but I couldn't help myself.  Awful.

"The day the earth stood still" with Keanu "wooden face" Reeves. I actually laughed out loud in the cinema at one of his lines it was so bad.

It never made it to cinemas...the worst film ever is Shark In Venice.

    greetings gents.
having seen a lot of dire films, the matrix sequels come to mind, the worst and most disappointing was probably 'max payne'. good idea but so badly done.
on the flip side a couple of films that surprised me by how good they were are 'billy elliot' and 'serenity'. really was not sure about them, but came out of the cinema very pleased at being 'forced' to watch them.
    good luck with the show.

I really want to read that book !!!! I need it! :(

I walked out of Star Wars, but I was forced to go in in the first place. Big mistake.

I also rented out "About Schmidt" with Jack Nicholson, and after 1 hour nothing had happened, and nothing looked like happening, so turned it off......

Also as an Adam Sandler fan I was really disappointed with "Punch Drunk Love" and the "Zohan" film.

There is no shadow Ryan, it is just the different shading on the back of the set.

Evening James , Trevor and of course Barry. 1st can I say Barry is one of the finest players I have had the
pleasure to  play poker with, his banter , wit, all be it very dry, but mainly his wonderful attitude to the game after he went all in with his AQ to only be called by a , sunglasses wearing, headphone listening idiot player in seat 2 who didnt have a clue you had raised, so re raised. You took that bad beat like a true proffessional , and I take my hat off to you..................
Oh yes sorry, Films,,, went in 1973 to see posidene adventure as a 12 yr old, and thought it was brill , and quiet scary........But the re make with Micheal Caine, OMG it was so bad he should of never acted again.

And Barry was knocked out by me so can I enter the comp for the book?

Hi guys, Sam Mendes' films always bore the you know what off me, especially American Beauty and Road to Perdition.

Another flick I never made it to the end of was Into the Wild.

Question for Barry: how are American players coping with the effects of Black Friday?

Worst film ive ever seen was buried. watching a guy try escape out of a coffin was the worst thing ever turned it off after 20 minutes :/
