Idea for MTT.

edited May 2011 in Poker Chat
Born out of my pure hatred of limpers and flatters I thought a great idea for a deep MTT could be the removal of the call button.

Good structure, say 2k in starting chips so not an all in scenario, but a raise, re raise or fold game.  Would be great.  Could cut down the length of a standard MTT, also be a good learning game for all those people who drag themselves along in pots

Hold on. So lets say i get a decent hand. aq. A raise comes in, so i have to re raise, then the other guy has to re raise so we basically have to go all in? Not sure that would work :)

Why not?  Course it works.  Just means hands will collide.  Means your only getting to flop after layers of betting.  Cant just call to see the flop. You either in or have to lay your hand down.

wouldnt someone have to eventually call someones raise or all in?

Yes, but they also have the option to re raise click raise or fold.  So if you cant call, only raise it does become an all in or fold scenario, but its not only an all in option.  So essentialy with each bet you reasses your hand.

Like I said, born out of my hatred of limpers and callers. :p

you realise you would never see a flop with any money behind

Not initially :)  Was a steam thread after the worst short stack high blind S + G.

    But principle holds true.

but if you have a shorter stack than a guy who shoves you dont have a call button and you cant raise because of a lack of chips. so you fold whatever your hand, this means you just need to get in front and keep shoving in as nobody can call you LOL

Why not amend orginal idea so you dont have the check button - that way you could call a raise but there's no need to reraise to stay in a hand?

My Thoughts Exactly as if you dont have a call button it basically becomes a glorified Russian Roulette with bigger starting chips. Like the Idea but if you amend it to no Check Button and once someone raises you can call then it could work.

i use to play on a site called pogo.com about 5 years ago when learning poker.

they had a game called Raise of fold after flop..

name speaks for itself, u eithe raise or fold after flop.

however this was for pretend money and with a raise limit.

    Just saying :)
