Hi I have a quick question regarding live poker play. When you state your intention to raise, do you have to state how much the increase is or what you are raising to in total?
Many thanks,
Graham

But if your wanting to bet something like 3k but only have multiples of 5k verbally confirm the amount prior to putting the larger chip in
only other time you may have a problem is when u move chips over the line but your holding other chips in the same hand.you may be forced to play all of them
Have never done this, dont see the point, you?
I love it when people stack their chips like huge towers (wobbly) and are animated, move around alot. Just praying they knock into it, spilling across line.
Many thanks,
Graham
If you are going to verbally announce would be a good idea to get into the habit of stating something like "make it x total to go".
This is probably stating the obvious but it might be useful to know for someone who hasnt played live. Never say I call and raise, as it is just a call. Also make sure your putting in the chips that you think you are and blinds are what you think they are. Its horrible to think blinds are 50/100, make a standard bet of 375 to find that the blinds are now 100/200 and you are tied to a min bet of a very weak 400. Also same advice with anny raises in front. If you get the amount wrong your bet can become disastrous
if u say raise 2000 you are raising the bet another 2000,if you say raise to 2000 then thats how many chips you are betting
stating your raise helps when you drop the wrong chips
i believe that mostly the rule is the opposite although i may well be wrong..i think the rule would be that if your chips cross the line they are valid, therefore the onew hidden in your palm would count
An argument could be made that they werent released, but I doubt it would get very far. Good practise to move exactly the chips you want to bet or verbally announce. Beyond questioning if you do either.
