Worst primo play ever??

edited October 2009 in Hold'em Poker Strategy
two limpers blinds 100/200.

I'm in big blind with 12 bb's ajax off and shove. First limper folds. Chappers40 delays then calls a8 diamonds. Rivers a straight - how woeful is this play?? Can't believe primo players make plays like this - the guy must lose a PACKET

True, it was a weak play, however, you failed to tell us how many chips chappers has? if his stack was 12,000 plus then yes his call was still weak but more justifiable.
However, your push with ace jack off wasn't the best of moves either as still 12 x bb gave you much breathing space. At the end of the day your kicker was only 3 pips higher anyway and whats to say chappers wasn't slow playing bullets. Would you have posted a 'worst primo play ever' thread relating to your own play if he had have been?
Probably better for 4 x bb raise and then see the flop. At worst you could have got away reasonably cheap should you miss totally.
Sorry to be so negative towards your play.

the shove is a great squeeze play, with only 12 BB left if you make a standard 3x BB raise you already have a quarter of your stack in the pot and will miss the flop 66% of the time so just shove. Unlucky to lose. A 50/50 lol... jeez

Chappers had me covered by 100 chips, so he was effectively calling off his stack with a8. A8 is NOT 50/50 v AJ. And with 12 bbs there is no way you should put in a third of your stack pre to look at the flop - nothing worng with my play, but his call is woeful
