The bounty chip is in the middle. Live game.

edited June 2011 in Poker Chat
Live bounty hunter last night. Now as a former TD i didnt deal with Bounty Hunters often. But my understanding was if the bounty chip is in the middle that means your putting your stack at risk. Its just a non verbal way of saying all in.

Anyways last night at casino, im already out about 2 hours ago and ive just finnished a profitable session on the blackjack. Ive gone to to watch over my dad and we're down to the last 16 players. Hes UTG and hes lost a big hand not long before. He says "yea ive got to go this time, and throws his bounty chip in." the player next to him asks for the count so my dad then moves a handfull of chips for the deal to count. As soon as he does the dealer throws his bounty chip back and says "the raise is 11.5K" but my dad has another 10K back which he couldnt hold. He says "im all in tho." but the dealer just protetests that hes right.

Next guy shoved anyways. But in this situation whats the ruling?

Usually the rule is like you say, if the bounty chip/disc goes into the middle it means you're all in.

Everytime i've watched a bounty tournament this is the ruling anyway.

Maybe it depends on each casinos rules.

I was watching that Caribbean Bounty Hunter tournament (The one JH was commentating on) on television the other night, and every time any player put his 'disc' in the middle it was deemed that the player was all in.

How did your Dad end up? (apart from outlasting you; which was a gimmie!!)  :))

At Alea where I am usually the dealer I confirm with the player if they throw in their bounty chip, I have seen it put in by accident as it is red and so are the 25's so certainly at Alea Leeds there is no "rule" that bounty chip in means "all in"

But why the dealer in this situation didnt clarify with your dad is beyond me? Sounds like a right grumpy idiot?
