Yet another poker site busted for dodgy dealing...

There have been a few others in the past, including Absolute and Ultimate Bet (just Google for the stories...). So it DOES happen, despite whatever "customer support" or other staff members tell us...

    Agreed.

I think old Rupert Murdoch may have a little too much invested in Sky on the whole to dip into his holiday fund. Now Robert Maxwell thats a different story....................

Pitbull Poker was a very, very fringe player in the market.  It was also a flash based site, which was one of the few 'direct' competitiors to Sky in terms of software.

It was an awful site and any player with any common sense wouldn't have played there.  Very poorly run and it looked like a dodgy operation.

And the UtlimateBet scandle was something very, very different and I have full confidence that it could never happen on a site such as Sky.  Remember Sky Poker is part of a multi-national conglomerate and everyone in positions of power there are extremely accountable to multiple people.

The very very rare cases of fraud that have gone on in the online poker world has been when the companies 'high end' employees are accountable to no-one.  Thats why they can get away with it.

    Oh, no......

My set top box has stopped. The phone wont work and I cant book a holiday with Sky travel. I've heard the Sun and The News of the World wont get published this weekend...

Quick everyone escape to the withdrawl funds page before it's too late!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That sort of thing couldn't happen with Sky due to the regulations in europe. There are a lot of fringe sites that are more trouble than are worth to be honest, theres bound to be a few out there. Suprised Murdoch hasn't blamed the poker site on Labour yet!!! Lol

All joking aside, I have a question for Sky Rich.

What guarantees do we get on our deposits here?

At banks deposits are guaranteed for 50k but Sky not being a bank does not fall under their regulations. Like an earlier post, should Sky do a Robert Maxwell what options do we have?

Tell me why Sky as a multi million pound organisation would want to risk hundereds, thousands if not millions in compensation if they were ever found to be "cheating, stealing, robbing us of our money!"
I never here Gerrard9, Pokerbcity,Gliterbabe Or Sharksbite to name but a few complaining that this site is rigged and they are playing higher stakes than most of us!.It make no sense what so ever.
Go away and luck at your game and not the site.

Lol, anyone who was daft enough to play at Pitbull Poker - "WE OFFER MORE, BIGGER BETTER" deserved to lose their money.

Lots of disreputable sites have gone skint - lots. Poker Trillion ran away with hundreds of thousands of pounds of other folks money last year, including $7,000 of mine.

Nobody ever denied there are dodgy sites out there. But I guess if you are a conspirsacy theorist, it's meat & drink. "Ooh, that means Sky Poker might be dodgy".

There is not much you can say to folks who think that way.

Bottom line is if you can not 'trust' an organisation as huge as Sky, then you can not 'trust' any.

If that is the case, just play live - home games. casinos etc. Freedom of choice is still alive and well in the Poker market.

Personally I play on here, P*R, 'Stars and Ftilt. All major sites that I believe are trustworthy.

BUT out of all of these sites, SKY is the one I feel the most financially secure as they use Pounds Sterling and are UK based.

Just my opinion, but if you honestly have trust issues about using the internet for financial transactions then you know you do not have to use it.

As in all things in life, generally the cream rises to the top - Sky is rising on up! :)

I certainly am not questioning the integity of this site.

I have placed many posts in area 51 defending it.

My question was one of guarantees. Yes, many sites that folded carrying other people' money with it were not U.k. nor European based and I have to assume that there are rules in place to protect the deposits of it patron's.

Many banks last year ran into serious trouble, but in turn these were all considered 'reputable' prior to their almost collapse. An icelandic bank bit the dust and the Govenment was left picking up the pieces.

My question was to ask what are these guarantee's?

I still consider this a fair and reasonable question without questioning the site's integrity.
